Well, looks like this turkey will go by you La Paz folks more then a healthy 200 or so miles to the south and only as a tropical storm. Lucky if you get a nice afternoon breeze.
So, next time you guys have more faith in my predictions instead of wallowing in your own doomsday ones.

If anyone wishes to thank a deity or anything else, try thanking the steering winds that made the Rickster run so far West into much cooler water. Had he (it) stayed much closer to the mainland coast, he (it) would have had much warmer waters to feed from, thereby maintaining a higher intensity.

Au contraire. prognosticator...I had faith in you...furniture and potted plants still in place to prove it.
It appears to be pouring in La Paz right now. But I think the bullet dodged us again.

Still think it quite curious that with the "hurricane season" coming to a close in a few weeks, in the Atlantic, only one storm managed to even grow to hurricane status, while Rick makes number seven in the Eastern Pacific. Not to mention the storms in the Western Pacific. Maybe the earth is tilting off its axis.

No matter the magnitude, storms make for some mighty unique cloud formations for sunset to highlight!

Rick is officially back to Tropical Storm status....with sustained winds of 70 mph.

edinnopolo, your credibility is rapidly becoming a Cat 5!

The fact that this storm killed at least two people before hitting land shows the potential it had at one point. Thank God it petered out.

I vote for edinnopolo as the official forum weatherman...

If I'm not mistaken, Rick actually became the second strongest storm since they've kept records on the Eastern Pacific. Imagine people anywhere being subjected to sustained winds of 180mph and gusts to 225. Y'all should thank your lucky stars.

I think that this storm season in the eastern Pacific is just another indication that global weather patterns are changing. I have read some predictions that Baja may likely become a bigger target for more hurricanes in the storm seasons ahead. If this season was any indication that may be true...

I'm afraid you hit that one on the button.
This is 2 years in a row we had major storms developing in October. Used to be rare, but better get ready for this happening yearly. Like I said, we may have to name them Santa, Dancer, Prancer or Jinglebells in the near future.
And LL, not much of a test for your new skylight. But, then again, this way it gets broken in gradually.

Do you think we will see them working their way farther up the peninsula?

I give it only a very small chance of holding up as I my "very" competitive bid was passed up by the homeowner...
