'K....I guess it's name is "GOODBYE & DON'T COME BACK"!!! Catch & release is soooo much easier when fishing!

Bring on the good karma, por favor!!

Wessongroup, those other pics that started this thread have been up for a looooong time! You need to meander through the photo threads to enhance your viewing pleasure!

Me too. I've got into a bad habit of just clicking "new posts" and not browsing much else, then when I see a thread like this that I missed I'm amazed. Great photos. You'd think where we live out in the boonies, there'd be more "stuff". We just don't have that much running around. Lots of kangaroo rats and more spiders than I want to know about, but not the variety of creatures you have! Maybe getting more than a 1/4" of rain once in a while helps.

This thread started while you guys were still up NOB busting your buns to get SOB. Ya better look quick.....because once your construction starts you won't be living the life of leisure you're currently enjoying!

The ONLY time I have seen tarantulas, toads, little green tree frogs & a few other critters here is immediately after a really heavy rain.....nothing quite as adrenaline pumping as thinking you're alone & having a toad try to "come ashore" on your shoulder when ya take a nighttime cooling off swim!!!

If you'd like me to start saving some of the local wildlife for you to take home & re-populate your part of the peninsula....just say the word! I'm hoping the word is HELL NO! Maybe they'd start cross-breeding & you'll end up with kangaroo rat rabbits!

I am enjoying the "down time" while we wait for the EIS, but we'd really like to get started!. As far as tarantulas...before we moved to our new locale, every October we'd get some sort of tarantula migration through our old property. For about 3 or 4 days, every evening they would start passing through. Dozens of them every night. On the patio, walls....everywhere. Needless to say, we stayed indoors! There's so much development there now, I don't think it happens anymore.

By the way we do have lots of jack rabbits (and lots of rabbit proof fence around our gardens). I swear some are as big as a small dog!

It does bring back memories of living out in the country... spring.. Mosquitos, may files then the locus, then the June bugs red ants .. plus as you have already mentioned the tarantulas , snakes, wasps, raccoons, 2 year old heifer in the pool, it goes on... and on..

After ten years moved back into the city and southern California, could not believe one morning we were sitting out side having coffee reading the sunday paper.. and we both flashed..... there were NO critters bothering us.. it was in April, and I was in shorts and tee shirt.. where we had moved from, we would have still had a fire going in the old air tight fisher free standing... and going outside would only invite some kind of attack from some critter...

Side story, used to have to deal with irate home owners who had move from either southern California or the bay area into the Central Valley and a few other areas ... and they want to know why they were being eaten alive by bugs and why couldn't the Feds/State/County do something about all these bugs.... said they used to ... but most of the really effective materials had been banned .... due to negative environmental impacts and/or human health effects..

Didn't do much to those who bought 5 acres, fenced it.. planted grass landscaped, put in a pool, and planted some trees .. maybe 4 acres of almonds or what ever.. and then watched and the army of locus marched across their property leaving only sticks where trees used to be.. and dirt where grass once was, and really did clog the filters on the pool pumps.. .. most could not afford to go back and re-do 5 acres of landscaping... was not a pretty sight.. but, was certainly a learning experience to those folks who had never lived in the "Country" as there is a lot to it.. that they don't show in the movies... and real estate agents don't really talk about.. now what ever happened to full disclosure

Must say, we had one heck of an unobstructed view of the Sierras .. which we enjoyed... for many years... plus could shoot off the back porch and some other things which was just a nice trade off at the time...

The tarantula "passed on"????

Fess up Legz - what did you do???

We get a lot of rabbits, squirrels, chipmunks and an occasional coyote on the property here. They stick around about 3 or 4 nanoseconds until the dogs take notice...

I scooped it up in a covered container, took it off my property, released it & told it to never darken my doorstep again! HONEST!!!!!

That's why I said I was waiting for the good karma!

Besides, it was to friggin big to squish!

NO!

But I'm still calling him at odd times....even times too!

He doesn't blend in at all, so I'm thinking that something may have gotten him or something happened to him that he can't come home. If he was within the sound of my voice, he'd answer me.....he isn't answering his little cell!

Dunno Lionel, but if you tap into the kitty physic hot-line, would you let me know where he is?! Tell him that damn offending stray dog is now at the La Paz Humane Society, so it's safe to come back home & his sisters will welcome him with open paws!

Not likely he'll go too far. I'll prowl over here at first light.

Gracias Dusty....I doubt he'd go to anyone even offering him food....he's very skittish around anyone new, i.e., anyone other than Maggie, Jenny or me! He's not a friendly sociable kitty! Dra/Mrs. bajabass was here for a week before she saw more than a white blur & I think she mighta got half a stroke in on her last day!!

Each of our Siamese has gotten out for a day or two and they both found their own way home. They just came walking in like it was no big deal and couldn't understand all the fuss.

Maybe it's something like a kitty-kat walkabout.

Is he neutered? If not maybe he got a better offer???

Hoping for the best...

When they are hungry they go find food or they come back. Some of Blair and Deb's cats are outdoors so there is food outside. They also have a "diner" who comes only at night, eats and runs.
Willie adopted us similarly, but chose to move in lock stock and barrel, I had one in Connecticut that left for 2 weeks. 2 days after I adopted another she showed up at the front door...she had never before gone in or out of that side of the house.Go figure with cats, that's why they fascinate us.
Skittish is good. More likely to stay away from the rabbits anf the digs betweem thee and me. Too early to be pessimistic, girl friend.
