In most cases... the cleared dirt on each side of the highway allows them to stay off the pavement. He was on an older dirt road yesterday that was close to the lagoon and sand dunes, and only came up to Hwy. 1 just north of his camp last night.

Mike and the gang walked about 12 miles today and are now just 4 miles from the state border/ Eagle Monument!
