Glad to hear about Fabrizzios - that place was always a favorite of ours. Plan B opened up right about the time we left I think. We still have good friends in Baja Malibu (we rented there for a few years before SADM) and they tell us the same story about the palce as you do.

Funny thing is that when I lived there (SADM) I even asked a few folks about Margie but nobody seemed to know who she was???

Ron

Did you or do you have Golden Retrievers? My husband Jeff thinks he meet you several times on the beach. We at that time had a old Chocolate Lab and a really big White (yellow) lab. He remembers meeting someone that went by Ron and did some writing for some publication. Could that be you??

Margie lives on the far North just a block from the nasty drainage gulch.

We still have Dakota, a 14 year old (white) yellow lab. I did write for awhile for the Baja Times a few years back as well. I think I remember Jeff - here is a photo from Christmas a couple of years back...

Never made it up that far - we always used the south entrance...

Please get this book...

It is about the history of the Melings (Rancho San Jose/ Meling Ranch) and the Johnsons (Rancho San Antonio de Mar) and is very good!! The book was reprinted and a Nomad member of the Meling family clan has given the ordering address. I have an original 1968 copy... You may find one on the Internet (AddAll.com or ?)?

Thanks DK. In the past few years I have been building my library and have acquired many of the books you have mentioned in your posts over the years. This looks like another good one to get...

Ron we have meet you, we are a block north of where you lived when you were in SADM!
The Christmas picture shows a diifferent man than you avatar does.
I am looking forward to heading South and hopefully crossing paths with you again!

Mike's trip is very inspiring and really getting me motivated to head down south (in the comforts of our truck though!)

Happy New Years to all, it seems with BN down your site will be hopping!! So many familiar names!

Yea, my avatar was provided to me by a very good friend some time ago and has just sort of stuck with me. I really wish I was that good looking...

My current avatar replaces an earlier one that seemed to scare folks for some reason:

Even putting sunglasses on him didn't seem to help...

So for now I am just stuck with the goofy guy in dreadlocks....

Hope that our paths cross soon - Happy 2011!!!

Happy New Year Everyone. Love Baja and like to learn everything that is going on there. Have a house in San Felipe and get there as often as possible. For the time being it snowed last night here in Redding...cold. Nancy

Welcome to the forum Nancy - you reminded me that I had better check the weather / road reports for parts further north as I will be traveling again next week. Today it has been an absolutely gorgeous day down here in our parts.

What a great way to start off 2011...

Beautiful day up North also
Sat on the patio with a short sleeve shirt. Really nice when in the direct sun
House is on the cold side though.
Heading back to SD tomorrow morning to beat the possible rain and to get ready for the real world, been on vacation for two weeks
