Re: Schooling in La Paz
Well,
We don't have an address yet. Hell, we don't even have a neighborhood picked out! Schools, walk-ability, ambiance (the ol' intangibles), breeze, shopping withing walking/bicycling distance....Lot's of things will go into this. Plus, if we do go private I doubt we will be constricted by what neighborhood we live in. A good dilemma.

Also spent considerable time at the harbor/ marina in both Ventura and Oxnard. Lived in various places in and around Agoura and Topanga for decades. Still think that the Reel Inn at the corner of Topanga and PCH is as good as it gets. |

Soulpatch, as a non-CA person, I can't relate to those places....but I can relate to & applaud your approach of researching the hell outta things in advance, trying to eliminate any huge surprises & being flexible in adapting to whatever reality you actually find when & where you gravitate to. If everyone's definition of paradise was the same, it'd be damn dull....not to mention way over-crowded!

Re: Schooling in La Paz
Having attended school abroad when growing up and having raised my own kids who were able to share in the same experience has convinced me that it will give them a great education, something difficult to compare or gauge by most standards. It will not only teach the the 3 "R's" but give them a real education into the world around us, a priceless tool in this growing global economy.
Choosing the right school is a process but based on the questions you are asking and the amount of effort I know you will spend on this I am quite sure that you will come up with a good choice. You have very lucky kids my friend and Baja will be just as fortunate to have all of you as part of "our" community...

Thank you, ladies, for all your help and input.
Oh, right, you men, too! So, am I reading This correctly? Cost per educational cycle? Does that mean semester? School year? Month? I don't see month anywhere on there.....if that is a year, well, things are looking good and even a semester, wow! If it's a month...well, not so great.

Re: Schooling in La Paz
Inscripcion is what you pay to get them signed up for the school year. Colegiaturas is what you pay monthly. According to the chart they have 10 school months. I did notice on the bottom of that page they have discounts for multiple kids...

Re: Schooling in La Paz
Well, then I can see why bajatripper sends his kids to the public schools.
Hmmm, a small dilemma. It certainly makes that school less of an immediate concern, though. We are hooked into a homeschool, well, actually independent learning with attendance two days a week, that has an online option in place. My wife is a hell of a school teacher so we may just continue on that path. Thanks, BG.

Re: Schooling in La Paz
Baja is a great place to home school - the key is having the right environment, a good program to work with and diligent parents.
I think you have all your bases covered... .

Re: Schooling in La Paz
I've gotten some excellent help from you all. Thank you.
I think the only thing that is certain when we come down is that I will no longer spend at a minimum 1 day out of every 3 away from my family.
