Good luck to him... that is one big problem, to effectively deal with...

As is Japan's current nightmare, which only continues to look very bleak....

Industrial accidents happen ... the degree of impact to our planet is and/or should be taken into account with a more sober degree of TOTAL impact.. in the event of releases...

We have been witness with in a somewhat sort period of time to two rather disturbing events... related to one issues... development of "ENERGY"...

The first the Gulf release and now the release of as yet undetermined amounts of radiation, with their total and full impact on "our" environment to yet be scientificlly determined... but, would appear at first blush, not to be all that good... at this time

Not sure how long this can be absorbed into a "steady state" system which is being taken to a new level....

I think we should all just go to solar / wind systems for our home energy needs.

But then there is that nasty battery acid...

That Carter sure was full of it; wasn't he?

I actually think that Carter was right on as far as his ideas about energy. His problem was that he was the good idea guy but not the CEO material type it takes to to get the plan implemented.

The Dept of Energy was/is just another level of bureaucracy...

Right now I am waiting to see the predictions for fallout vs wind patterns. At the current levels I don't think we would be even able to see any measurable levels by the time it reaches this side of the Pacific.

Stay tuned...

Ehh; I think it much more likely that his recommendations fell on still-to-this-day deaf ears.

Witness the Fiscal Catatonia among our populace; it's just too scary to contemplate.

Ergo, we will hold course for the shoals. After, we will be abandoned to our own devices and embrace whichever Strongman will tell us the best lies.

That is why his ideas needed a different messenger. Someone who could put the fear of God into men's hearts...

This disaster has got to be a hellish DejaVu for any survivors of Hiroshima / Nagasaki.

Neena Sasaki, 5, holds some of her family's belongings from their destroyed home in Rikuzentakata, Miyagi prefecture, Japan.
