Re: 122,664 Foreigners Living in Baja California
There was no evidence of census takers in the Punta Banda area either. I talked with several gringos and quite a few locals, and they weren't counted either. I'm guessing there are between 500 and 1,000 ex-pats living here on the peninsula; their absence from the census could seriously skew the numbers. And if they use sampling techniques, I wonder how many standard deviations are considered acceptable?

I have in the past observed them walking through a beachcamp pasting stickers on houses without missing a stride. |

Re: 122,664 Foreigners Living in Baja California
Just an update
I found a breakdown of the 2010 census population figures by municipality, and they specify how many persons were born in the state, in other Mexican states, in the US, in other countries, or "unspecified".
Start here: http://www.inegi.org.mx/sistemas/ola...c=27769&s=est# Click on "Población total" Check "Población total con estimación" (or " sin estimación" if you prefer), "Entidad y municipio", and "Lugar de nacimiento" then click on the "ver consulta" button at bottom. Click on the "+" next to the state, and it shows figures for the municipalities. In La Paz municipality, it shows 1,416 born in the US, 678 in other countries, and 3,557 unspecified (287 if "sin estimación" is selected). On the main page for the census, there's a link to methodology info if anyone's interested. Hmmm, maybe a good project for our recovering jefe!! |
