The whole process was very easy (and inexpensive) here in La Paz. Getting an FM3 is easy. Getting a driver's license is easy. I get the feeling that some of these suggestions were the result of sparse information from Nemo.....Canadian.....air travel and so on. It's clear now, but it wasn't at the git-go.

Well, okay then.
Nemo, my recommendation is to come without a vehicle, get an FM3, buy a used car in Ensenada, register it, and get a driver's license and insurance there. I did it that way when I moved to La Paz and have no regrets. Hopefully the process will be equally painless in Ensenada.

Has it been established that Alex is coming down to stay, try it out or vacation. I didn't see anything mentioning this.

Sorry guy's, i thought i had mentioned already, i am looking at staying a long time.
With a view to possibly retiring there.
I guess six moths to a year should proof it out either way..

If all goes well, i am shooting for the end of September, just got a few things i need to clear up here before i go. If later than that it will be last of October.

Oh, we have plenty of opportunities for social interaction. I have two sets of neighbors from Canada......Toronto and Vernon, BC.

Let me know if you want info on the guy who sails/transports boats to Baja.

Being Canadian, from what I've researched, he cannot register his car in South Dakota unless he has a U.S. social security number. I have a friend from Germany that wanted to do the same thing as Nemo. We checked two counties and neither would register the car unless he had a U.S. Social Security Number. I would imagine those two counties represent the norm.
