Unions are unions and they serve themselves first, then their members. What is criminal is Gordillo preventing what $156MIllion could have done for Méxican schools. The literacy rate is sad and a secondaria education (9th grade) is still considered "good enough" in many areas. More young people are now going to college and beyond, but they have to have had access to good and inspirational teacher at a young age to get there- and that's why this stings.

Exactly Wooosh, She is the lowest of the low and I really would like to see all recovered funds and or property converted into cash and put back into the educational system. It probably won't happen that way, but, that would be my preference.

A very nice summary by Al Jazeera. That's how much the internet has changed the way we get our news and can bring us contrasting perspectives. Al Jazeera went from being a radical mouthpiece to a mainstream source for a wide range of topics and issues. That to me is almost as interesting as the story.

The literacy rate is very sad. I've been told less than half the Rosarito town hall employees have finished secondaria (9th grade). It does no good to send college-level letters to people in power who cannot read them. That took me a while to figure out.
