This guy retired at age 30. And then started a blog to show others how he did it:

Mr. Money Mustache

I am at the same juncture. I am 55. It was my goal to retire at this age, but I didn't make it. I am currently researching/blogging my journey to retirement. Within the next few months, I am hoping to get an estimate on what our house may sell for, then get with my financial advisor with real numbers and see if we can do this. We want to travel to the Ensenada area later this year. If we like it, I am hoping to put things in motion and be retired/living there by the end of next year. My parents died at 45 and 50. As someone mentioned earlier in this thread, do it while you can enjoy it!
