With hurricane season upon us, and remembering the devistation of recent storms, I thought this was a good item to post:

September is National Preparedness Month (NPM). NPM is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and is a nationwide effort to encourage Americans to take simple steps to prepare for emergencies in their homes, businesses and schools as part of the Ready Campaign. Throughout September DHS is working with a wide variety of organizations to highlight the importance of emergency preparedness planning.

This year there are again four main focus areas for NPM.

a. Get a kit

b. Make a plan

c. Be informed

d. Get involved

There are many opportunities to participate in NPM, and we encourage you to check out the tools and ideas available on the Ready Campaign website at Ready.gov - Prepare. Plan. Stay Informed.

There are some great hints. I thought I had a pretty good handle on the preparedness thing, but there are some critical things we need to take care of.

That is great info and the fact is, no matter where you live the threat of some natural disaster always exists. Being prepared for such an event can be life saving...
