My beloved friend and fellow Baja afficianado Murry Carver passed away while on a motorcycle ride yesterday. Murry lived his life with gusto. He was a man of his word, and his faith. He touched many with his kind nature. Via con dios me amigo.

can someone please pass the news on to David K. They were friends.
47 is way to young. It looks like he had a heart attack while out riding. Search and rescue found him this morning after a 20 hour search. |

Didn't know the man but so sorry to hear of his passing. Have lost three friends in the past year to heart attacks. All of them under 55, none of them overweight or smokers, etc. Makes no sense.
May he rest in peace. |

RC motorcyclist found dead in Lytle Creek
Posted: 05/07/2009 12:30:29 PM PDT The body of a missing Rancho Cucamonga motorcyclist was found on a Lytle Creek trail by searchers scanning the area from a helicopter. San Bernardino County sheriff's personnel, who had relatives of 49-year-old Murray Carver flying in the helicopter with them, spotted the man's body at 11:50 a.m., said spokeswoman Jodi Miller. Deputies lowered a paramedic from the helicopter down to the man, whose body was about 13 miles from his truck. The paramedic confirmed the man had died, Miller said. His cause of death was not known. Sheriff's personnel remained on scene this afternoon, waiting on officials from the San Bernardino County Coroner's Department. Carver left his home Wednesday morning and told his girlfriend he'd return about 1 p.m. When he didn't return, his girlfriend tried to find him. She located his truck on a dirt road near a Sierra Avenue gas station north of the 15 Freeway at the borders of Fontana and Rialto. Carver, who was riding a white-and-blue Suzuki dirt bike, planned to take the trail to an area called Joe Elliot campground and head back to his truck. He never returned. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ The motorcycle Murry was riding was mine. He had borrowed it a week earlier to try and find this campground that he wanted to take two of his kids to. He had located the way there last week, and planned on just taking another route up to it before continuing on to Vegas to return my bike. He never called me that day, as he usually did, probably because he didn't want me to tell him not to go by himself. Since it was my bike he would of had to listen to me. Murry was engaged to be married in January and had already started to make the arrangements in Hawaii. I am deeply saddened for his fiance Kelly. She is a really sweet girl who just lost her sister a little while back. |

I wish everyone had a friend like Murry. Correct spelling. No A in it. He was always up for an adventure, and no matter how hard things got he always stayed positive. One time Murry and I were fishing the Islas Encantadas and on the way back the motor quit, for good. I am busy worrying about how to get rescued, but Murry just pulls out his fishing pole and starts fishing. That was him. No worries Murry. The man lived more in 50 years than most do in a lifetime. Once, when we were fishing 20 miles out of Marathon Key we were on the fringes of a Hurricane. Squalls were coming though with rain so hard you could not see your hand in front of your face. Everybody on the boat wanted to to go in. Not Murry he was driving and refused to turn around, we had to Mutiny to get him to turn the boat around. We ended up fishing a little closer to shore. |

Here are David K's pictures of Murry and he does look familiar to me. Wouldn't be surprised if we met somewhere down here in all these years. My heart goes out to all who knew and loved him...

Thanks Ron for posting my photos here...
One of Mur's goals when fishing the waters off Baja was to catch every fish shown in Tom Miller's 1979 book: 'Angler's Guide to Baja California'... He would call me when he added another check mark to a fish shown in the book. He frequently fished out of Camalu, Ron... Perhaps you saw him there? He was 'hired' by various businessmen for weekend fishing trips... and they were never disappointed! I am pretty sure he was 49, but he did have a full life that most of us would envy... It sure proves that the good do die young... so very sad!

Thread was moved to our new Baja Obituaries forum. Seems like often we never know for sure where to post this kind of news.
Murry will be the very first one remembered here...

Murrys' body is to be released tomorrow (Monday). Services will be Wed or Thurs. I will post the exact when and where when I have more info. His fiance is doing much better. I guess we all realize Murry died doing what he wanted to, what more can we ask.

And the tears come again. Thanks again David for the pictures. It has been several months since I have been able to view them.
The service for Murray. Notice the spelink. I don't know why I was so certain there was no a in it. Was perfect Murray. He didn't even come. His body that is. Seems the autopsy was held up, and one of his sons had to graduate from USC the next day, so the show must go on, and apparently so must the service. The results of the autopsy were not available until sometime in June. It was a heart attack. Everyone already knew that though. It seems he leaned the bike against some rocks. Walked maybe ten feet. Sat down under a tree and died. He never even took his helmet off. I garnered this information after talking to several people from several different agencies. I ended up getting my bike back a few weeks after he passed at the Forest Service fire station off of Sierra avenue, and Glen Helen Drive. The head guy there filled me in on as many details as he could. It was his station who ended up retrieving the bike. It seems Murray was way into the no go zone for motorcycles on a long closed Forest Service road. In true Murray fashion he took video and still photos of his trip to heaven. Man, it was strange seeing those at the funeral. RIP Bajamur. |

Hi I'm brand new to the site, I found out about Bajamur aka Craizy Murray in my family and are old group of friends. By searching for him on google last year. I hoped that the news I was reading was wrong. Mrruay meant a great deal to me as teenager growing up. He was a fiend of my fathers. Which I knew him as a child as Allen Carvers brother. I remember we took him to San Quintin many times and he was always doing some wild off the road stuff that would annoy my dad. But they both had a taste for thrills lol. For those of you who have been to San Quintin you know the winds can be a strong deciding factor whether you got out or not. Well my father and Murray and me went out any way in good 25 to 30 knot wind we hit the 240 the 270 and went down to Socorro fishing bass and rockfish. I got sea sick and these two wouldn't turn the boat around they were having too much fun and we needed food back at camp anyway. My dad figured it would have scared Murray bit but nope just encourage him to do it more often. A few years later Murray would take his Chaperral down to San Quintin to have the bait tank over flow and sink his boat at the dock while sleeping at the nice Old Mill Hotel back when Al Gaston owned it. My dad got a laugh out of that and that sealed his name in our circle of friends in the area. We dubbed him Craizy Baja Murray. I called Murray back in 05 to catch up as my parents had moved 2 years prior out of California to Missouri my father had Alzheimer's and my mother passed from a heart attack in 03. I told Murray I wanted to return home and start making my fishing lures and go public with them and was wondering how fishing was down in Camalu and if they might need some tackle or another charter captain as I know the area very well. He said sure thing he would help out and to stay in touch. Time went by I had some issues with my girl friend and we had baby girl. So my plans got put on hole and me and Murray lost touch for a little bit. So last year I get all my stuff together to do the business and start selling lures and I try to email Murray thinking I must have the wrong email I google his name and I see and obit and I am like no not my Murray. He was Family to me I knew his older brother and kids and his brothers kids I mean I just lost my dad before I tried to look him up too. I will miss Murray and when I get home to California this year I am definitely going to make a tribute fishing trip to San Quintin and Camalu to celebrate my friends life. He was too young to go and I know he will be missed. RIP Murray I love you like an uncle and will miss you till I see you again, "Live by the worm die by the worm!"
