Mauro is on a distinguished road

Default Hello Everybody!

Well, it looks like this is the first stop.

My name is Mauro and I am a good friend of Ron (BajaGringo) as well as his neighbor and golfing buddie. We met in Bakersfield many years ago and I thought he was nuts when he told me that he was moving to Baja. Well, I still think he is nuts but I guess I am too as I am now building a house down near his new place, outside San Quintin along the beach. I was born in Los Angeles and raised in the sierras of Chihuahua, Mexico. I returned to California years later, working as a masonry contractor and professional musician. I even managed to make a few dollars on many of the golf courses throughout Southern California.

Today I just feel fortunate to call this amazing place home. I still do custom masonry work if anybody is interested as well as offer my services as a musician. I will definitely accept any calls for 8:00 AM tee times!

Looking forward to getting to know you guys.

Any friend of Rons is a friend of mine, Mauro. Wecome to the board.
WOW...The Sierras in Chihuahua are a good place to be FROM if you're still alive. Did you read the book, "God's Middle Finger"?
Anyway...A musical mason, eh? I'll keep that in mind.

Welcome friend...

And don't let him fool you - Mauro is a golf shark and will take ALL YOUR MONEY. He actually played in the US Open as a qualifier a few years back. No easy task...

I am getting some of it back though - He doesn't know it yet but he WILL be helping me do my finish rock work on the house.

Hola Mauro-
Please post pictures of the work you do on your own casa so we all can drool with envy. That counter top photo you posted is nice stuff ! Maybe you'll consider driving farther south (it's only another day and a half's drive, ha ha) when your own house is done?

We're outside a town in Baja Sur with a pop. of 500 and the guys are pangeros, not builders. The influx of a few gringos has brought to town a couple of experienced masons from Cd Constitution who have worked in the US and are good at block construction and concrete work, but not so much tile and stone work. One thing we have plenty of around there are rocks.

More photos please!

Mauro is not one to brag and those of us who have come to know him and call him friend all agree that he is one of the nicest, most well rounded and talented guys we know. Whatever he does he excels at - golf, stonework, music and we are just waiting for him to take up rocket science.

I am helping him format his service jobs ads and will put one up for his music too. Maybe even include a couple of his songs as downloads. He write his own music and has recorded in Pepe Aguilar's studios in Mexico City, for those of you who know Latin music.

Here are a couple of photos I took at Mauro's place while he was working on his steps up to the kitchen, cutting Saltillo tile to fit into the sandstone steps. First time I have ever seen someone do that. It looks even better than what these photos show.

I will get some updated photos later and post them...

Mauro:

Nice work you are doing with that saltillo and sandstone. Be sure to post up some more photos when it is grouted and sealed.

I downloaded your songs off your music page ad here and you are an honest to goodness musician - very impressive! I probably can't afford you now that I have heard you.
