This photo creates an image of Tijuana pressing up against the border that looks almost like the city will pour over the fence by its own weight. The solution is not political but a social one IMHO...

There's probably an even more dramatic difference at the border between Mexicali and Calexico. It became starkly evident to me last time I flew back to LA at night. Years ago, the lights of the two towns produced what was basically a circle, as viewed from 20,000+ feet. Today, it shows as starkly different half-circles butted up against one another at the center. I'd guess that the lights of Mexicali are four times as great in size. Mostly because of growth based upon the maquiladoras.

I think the bad economy is doing more to slow down the flow of illegal immigrants more than any fence or government policy IMHO...
