I'm new to the forum... don't talk much... do enjoy sharing photos.
The many shrines of Baja have always touched my heart.
Here are just a few to share with you.
Anyone wish to add more.... please do.

Nice photos, unfortunately I don't have any to share.

I hope that last one isn't an altar to someone who was taken by a shark!

Nena,

Those are very nice photos, here is one from San Borja, at least I think this is a shrine, I could be wrong. Connie

The Catholic church has played a large and at times polemic role in Mexican history. It is difficult to travel very far anywhere here without finding such evidence and I am amazed sometimes at the work and creativity invested. Thanks for sharing the photos!

Love those pix and love the shrines. Thought I would add a very simple one near Bahia Asuncion---dirt road back way to Tortugas.

To me, it shows the importance of having the roadside shrine even if the resource is not there to make it fancy.

Very nice shrine photo, Ken - Day of the Dead, no?
This is the first one I've seen with the baskets of fruit - I like that part. Adds great color.

This shrine is on the Hwy between La Paz & the Punta Conejo Fishing Camp turnoff. It's always intrigued me. It must be honoring someone important because I've seen bus loads of locals stopped there nearly every time I've passed it. It was a rare photo op day to find absolutely NO ONE there to interfere with the stark beauty of the shrine itself. It makes me think the person was very dignified in life. :icon_e_wink:

It looks like a monument of some sort, Longlegs. Perhaps for a family or group or for some calamity that may have occured.
