The Baja was the greenest that I have seen on our drive to La Paz in December. I am sure the rains now will help keep it that way a while longer. Will be there in March. Would be nice if still green!

Our nasty little (and big) stickers are doing this:

We had a whopping total of .16 inches of rain, half of that in a quick downpour last night. Hopefully that will be enough moisture to get some of those stickers to sprout so we can start eliminating them.

I can't believe how much rain affects satellite internet. I could read three pages of my paperback waiting for a simple email message to send. No rain and all is well now.

Thanks for the tip on the Sat.. Wondered about it.. our Direct TV up north would have those kinds of problems when we would have rain.. too..

I went cheap here, with ADSL via Telnor.. I'm really surprised at the over all speed I'm getting for $37.86 per month usually around 350 which is enough to surf and send email with attachments and the rest.. the extra speed is fun, but ... I just go get another cup of coffee go to the refrigerator .... treat it like "commercials" on TV, that I used to watch

Was having some problems... but it turned out to be the OS, had to erase and reinstall.. now I just love doing that.. takes me at least a full 24 hours to get EVERYTHING back to where everything has been updated.. I run with an external HD going at all times, and back up very frequently.. computer failure causes me pressure and I don't work well under PRESSURE!!

Time for a xanax..

Thanks for the tip..

I am laughing here visualizing you standing out on your driveway with a hose pointing our direction!! Don't think there is quite enough water pressure up there!

I used to do the HD backup for everything and I still do for the most important stuff but nowadays I am just backing everything up to a server online. Happens seamlessly in the background and it is always there if I ever need it...

who is your isp and what is your connection speed, I have the ability, with my server, but my connection Telnor gives me some concern..

I would like that just fine, I back up some of my stuff that way, but was not too sure about everything.. and do you still keep a external HD going.. as that is what I do..

Thanks

There are lots of services that do this but they charge from $45 a month and up. They do keep backups of your files uploaded and if you need triple backup that may be the way to go. Another option is to simply register a domain name that you keep private, only for your backup use. Many providers like GoDaddy.com offer free hosting for domains with up to 10GB of storage. Simply use a (free) ftp program like filezilla to update the files.

Cost? Less than $10 per year and it is available anywhere you have an internet connection. Speed is as fast as your internet connection.

I backup my image files. etc to HD and all my important data files/docs that change frequently to online.

And WHAT....if I may be so rude as to interrupt this facinating discussion, gentlemen....does this conversation have to do with rain in La Paz?????

Might I suggest that you start a new thread to discuss this totally unrelated topic?

It's a rainy day schedule.. didn't you get the memo??

Now how did your roof hold up and are you able to collect rain water and store it in that cistern you had put under your home (yeah I read it all) a great idea.. have wounded why others had not adopted a similar concept..

I was reading, this is related to rain and the collection of same, an article where Mexico's head of the Water Administration, excuse if I did not get the agency's name correct, I type on the fly.. , but, he was making a very valid point..

Seems the people who lived here before the Europeans arrived used exactly that as a means to "harvest" water and retain it for the times when it was needed.. simple but very effective..

Ms. Legs .. you are ahead of your time.. now can be go out and play

Forum owners can never be accused of hijacking a thread!

Temporary detour maybe...

Of course they can be accused....unfortunately, they can't be tried in a court of law & sentenced to be "Hung by the neck until dead"!

Grammatical error....or is it "Hanged by the neck until dead"??

Hey, I hear they had rain down in La Paz... was there any measurements taken.. I saw Russ took some really pretty pictures of the clouds as they passed by, over his way, it's to bad no one took some pictures of the RAIN down in La Paz.. and put them up HERE!!

Seems to me, some folks down there keep camera's close at hand and fully charged.. and they take really nice pictures..

Sure would like to see some pictures of the rain's effects down in La Paz, how about all you other folks..

Today's rain wasn't enough to play connect the dots with! Nor enough to play HANGMAN!

Yesterday's rain was unusual because it lasted most of the day. Today's was a non-event with just a few sprinkles. Not much worth photographing unless you enjoy looking at potholes with all the filler sand washed out of them.

It's raining; it's pouring.
The old man is snoring.
He went to bed and bumped his head,
And he couldn't get up in the morning.

This would be me out my back door at night and trying not to irrigate someone’s back yard. I hope this is in keeping with the spirit of this thread and somewhat on topic!
Sincerely,

David Elinvestig8r M.
