The rains bring a lot of green to our area, both in the landscape as well as the promise for a good year economically for the local economy. Thought I would share some shots I took of the amazing color all around us right now...

Baja is green from end to end right now. Nice pictures BG! I'll bet these cows would love all that fresh grass!

Don't worry - there will be lots of cows grazing in these field very soon. The ranchers move them from field to field and they will have their turn at this grazing smorgasbord before you know it...

Gorgeous! Thanks for the reminder what green looks like- and those wildflowers!
This is what it looks like here now, and this is the "lush" vegetation. A few nights ago BigWooo heard a thumping sound outside and when he looked out the window this young lady was in the window staring back at him. She was digging up a barrel cactus I had transplanted off the patio and must have been preparing to smash and eat it before we shooed her away. Surprisingly, she didn't disturb any of the other plants and I was able to plunk the barrel back in the ground. I don't know how a burro would get around the spines? The gate is being closed at night from now on. |

The first time I saw San Quintin was in 2005. Several years of no rain to speak of had left the area very dry. It looked like many ag areas were unused for lack of water. I hope it rains even more, and that area looks the same as it does now, all year.

Those are gorgeous, BG. Reminds me of some of the spring pics in Arizona Highways (remember that?)

I remember as a young kid taking trips with the family from SoCal to the Midwest to visit family, attend weddings/funerals. Traveling along the old 66 in springtime was always a treat as there would be bright patches of color to breakup the seemingly endless miles of desert. Making the same trip in July or August would leave me wondering how anything could stay green in that hot and dry climate...
