Default Selena - Who was she?

It has been 15 years since Selena passed and most in the local community here have marked her passing remembering her music and where they were when they heard the news. Contrary to what many Gringos believe, she was actually an American citizen, born in Texas and had to learn Spanish from her parents to be able to sing the music which made her famous and named the Queen of Tejano music.

When she passed away in 1996, then Texas governor Gerorge W. Bush declared her birthday (April 16th) "Selena Day" in Texas. Some of you may recognize some of her music she recorded in English:

I Could Fall in Love

I'm Getting Used to You

Dreaming of You

Her muder was an unbelievable needless event and so very sad for those of us who appreciated all of her hard work to attain the success that she gained. Would encourage anyone who has not seen her movie to do so to better understand the tragedy, her life and her music.

Weirdo that killed her personified what I call the Selfishness Of Criminality; shades of Betty Broderick.

My favorite of Selena's:

No me queda mas
Que perderme en un abismo de
Tristeza y lagrimas
No me queda mas
Que aguantar bien mi derrota y
Brindarte felicidad

No me queda mas

Y totalmente equivocada
No me importa
Porque esto sí fue amor
Por mi parte lo mas lindo
El mas grande amor
Y aunque siempre lo reuncias para mi
Fue lo mas bello

They had an interview with the lady who killed her on TV the other night. Still in Jail.

I watched that interview too Woooosh. Had to laugh when she said that she never meant to kill Selena and that the gun went off accidentally.

I am sure that it was just coincidence that she just happened to be packing a gun when they met that night...

At my age I have been mainly a Frank, Billy, Ella, Anita, Big Band etc, kind of guy.
However Selena got my attention, and to this day I play her music regularly.
Rotten shame the way she met her demise, while she was getting to the top of her career. But then, we all know, life ain't fair.
