Default Remembering Olivia...

I have received several emails and messages from friends and family who remember and all are deeply appreciated. Today marks six years since my beloved Olivia passed and I can hardly believe that she would have been turning 21 in a couple of months. I was so very blessed to be her dad for fourteen wonderful years and my life was forever changed just having that little girl call me daddy. Today I have learned to (mostly) focus on all the positive memories and take comfort in knowing my special little angel is watching over us.

I thought I would share some of her photos that make up some of my precious memories of her. She was a very loving, active and outgoing girl who loved Baja, the outdoors, sports, adventure and her beloved Dakota...

Thank You for sharing one of your most precious memories with us. I know that not a year has gone by for you without the pain of the loss of your daughter but you do have those wonderful memories to always carry with you, as well as many friends around here who are here for you. So, with that celebrate her life and those wonderful memories. As you watch the sun (hopefully we'll get some) set tonight, have a cadillac in her memory.....

Six years ago today...

She looks like a wonderful little girl, Ron.

May you cherish the memories you have of her as time helps to lessen the pain; if only a little every year.

Thanks for the very kind thoughts. Olivia had that special ability to light up a room with just her smile. She was and always will be very, very special...

Hey Ron,
I am sorry.
From someone who deals in death and tragedy daily, well, all I can say is my heart is broken every time I read about your loss. My children are my heart and I really don't know what I would do without their presence there......
I admire your spirit and courage to face the day and to see good after the loss of such a large part of yourself.
As a dad I hope to never feel that loss.

Thanks again my friends.

I really was overwhelmed at the number of emails and messages I received yesterday morning from those who remembered. As a parent you never forget; the pain is always there but you just learn to put it in a different place over time and hopefully just focus on all the positive memories. You expect for others to go on with their lives and you really don't get upset when they stop remembering the date. Olivia's spirit was a very special one and probably why so many still do after six years have passed.

I pray that none of you ever know the loss of losing a child. Those of you that have please know that I share in your pain and loss. And thanks to all of you for your warm messages. They are deeply appreciated.

Today I find great solace living on this stretch of peninsula that she loved so much. Sometimes when I see Dakota run on the beach and play in the surf I still expect to hear Olivia's voice calling out to her to go fetch one more time, the stick flying out over the waves. This photo is the very last one I captured of Olivia, just days before she left us. It is just the way I remember her now. I still find myself calling out to her in a soft voice on some days as I watch another beautiful sunset.

God knows how much I miss her - I just know that she's out there watching it too...

Thanks again my friends.

Olivia was a charmer and you would have certainly been infected by her contagious humor. It was irresistible and she always had me laughing.

These are the images of Olivia I carry with me today...

I just came across this post, being new here to your forums.

Having four kids of my own, I cannot and do not want to, imagine the loss of a child. I didn't know this family tragic had happened to you Ron. I am sure that she is in good golden hands.

Thanks my friend for the very kind words. Olivia has been on my mind a lot these past several days. She so loved the Holiday Season and decorating the tree without her still seems so strange...

Ron, I am so sorry for your loss.

Like the others who have posted here, I cannot imagine the grief that you carry. There is a rare perspective that comes when we loose someone so close to us, perhaps it is the way we all should live our lives. Each day is special, and love is too rare to treat lightly.

Celebrate love and embrace it when it comes to you, and live each day seeking the beauty it contains.

Blessings to you and your family as you remember Olivia.

It is hard to know how to comfort a friend when he has lost the soul of his life... Having a daughter who grew up about the same time as yours causes me to wonder how I could handle the loss.

Knowing she would want you to not be sad is what you go with... She is smiling down at you and wants to to continue with your life so she can enjoy it with you, inside your heart.

Thank you for sharing Olivia with us, Ron...

I can't imagine having to deal with such a loss...I suppose the hole in your heart, will never heal completely...Remembering Olivia with the help of her smiling pictures can perhaps help bring back some the good times...

I'm sure many silent prayers from your Baja Buddies are finding their way in your direction...Ray
