Default Sign on permanently

Is it possible to add an option to sign on permanently? Signing on every time I revisit is getting to be a royal pain.

??

I also use Firefox and it keeps me always signed in. When I turn on the computer and then click on the TalkBaja icon on my bookmarks toolbar, here it is and I'm ready to go.

Don't know Gene
I use the Firefox bookmarks toolbar for all my bookmarked sites - maybe that has something to do with it?

I just checked and DON"T find the password saved in Firefox. But it works. Think also have to have cookies turned on.

On a different but kind of related subject, can we change the time from GMT to our local time?

I use the toolbar for bookmarks, not the bookmarks dropdown at the top of the browser.

I use IE 7 and have to sign in frequently. Can you tell me if there is a specific timeout when there has been no activity? If my PC is on all day, and I sign in here in the morning, when I come back a few hours later, I have to sign in again. That "other" site keeps me signed in until my PC automatically deletes cookies once a day.

Oh. As for the cookies, I'm set to receive cookies from this site, lest it won't even allow sign-in.

As stated above that turned out to be my problem with not being kept logged in.
How do I do that?

Be sure it says accept cookies

As a side not I went through the whole thing once again and it now has worked 4 times keeping me logged in..
Nope. Doesn't say view page info. Clicking on view source, properties or page info doesn't give any options about accepting cookies. Using XPpro.

Well; I've massaged the hell out of my Firefox cookie retention...no joy.

Changed password settings
Tools>Options>Security>Remember passwords for sites(check); verified password was saved.

Now the login screen comes up "Username", but when I type the first capital "M", a clickable popup appears with mine in it that I click, then hit enter/click that arrow and I'm in.

Some progress; better than typing out the whole thing.

No. Mine says "page info" and contains these options:

Cached snapshot of page
Similar pages
Backward links
Translate page into English

I don't have Firefox. I'm using IE with XPpro.

Thanks for the directions on the time thing.

As far as the log on - I just know mine works all the time - I'll study on it some more but I don't show any password stored.

In looking around, I have a talkbaja.com cookie called bbpassword - aswell as bbuserid, bblastvisit and bblastactivity

My suspicion is that these are keeping me signed in.

We're getting there, guys.

I have the bblastvisit and bblastactivity cookies, but I do NOT have bbpassword nor bbuserid.

In addition I have one called bbsessionhash.

Let me try something else. I think "Remember what I enter in forms and the search bar" might be it.

Me I just keep punching buttons to see what is not working.
You & me both!!

I figure it took at least 10 years off my life when the pics disappeared overnight! :icon_e_surprised: Since the site changed format & moved to a new server, my personal frustration level has increased daily, and at the rate things are going, I'm no longer making plans for manana, let along later today!:icon_lol::icon_lol::icon_lol:

Firefox....accept cookies....deleted all cookies....deleted bookmark....started from scratch & did search for TB....it opened in failed to log on mode because it defaulted back to "Username" rather than longlegsinlapaz....I changed it to longlegsinlapaz & opened TB....saved that page as a bookmark....I typically do NOT hit the TB logout button, I just X out of the Firefox tab....but I've tried it both ways yesterday & today.

I found & followed the Cookie instructions in FAQ. Nothing I have tried has resulted in a PERMANENT fix! :icon_cry::icon_cry: Only since I began trying to resolve my auto-log-on defaulting back to "Username" issue has TB begun logging me out; frequently just going between "New Posts" & "Today's Posts":icon_cry::icon_cry: I also use a clean-up program that deletes cookies once a week. I haven't a clue whether the problem is with my PC....TB....or a combination of the two!:icon_e_confused:

It took me a full week to work my way to a level that I finally found a button to create a NEW THREAD! I was feeling soooooo blond!:icon_rolleyes: BTW, that button that's labeled "New Post' is deceptive until you cursor over it so it displays "Reply"! Took me a while to figure out that's the one to click on if you're anal like me & have a fierce desire to preview your post before you post. "Quick Reply" is just that....I'll NEVER use that button!

I too, miss the "comment" section for each individual pic posted. I LOVE the ease of posting pics here without having to re-size. I couldn't post pics until this site was created.

A key reason that I want this site to flourish is the "No Trolls" policy. The fact that it's got 3 Moderators at start-up is a HUGE PLUS for me. I sincerely hope this site takes off like gang-busters & remains a place that I'm proud to post & to be associated with. Ron gets major KUDOS for having moved "Off-Topic" posts off the "Today's Posts" page to some slimy back room where I personally have no desire enter.

IMO, the powers that be need to keep in mind that NOT ALL of us are Techie Nerds! :ugeek: IMO, this site was MUCH MORE USER-FRIENDLY in it's original format. It appears to have made a dramatic leap towards becoming a Techie Nerd Only Zone. :(

I DO understand that there are still a lot of "bugs" to work out, and I DO understand the more detailed data provided, the more/faster it'll help those wielding the big cans of bug spray to get it to a smoothly functioning site. I'm just not sure that I have that much time left. << Not all the emoticons work all of the time, it worked in my opening paragraph, but not here. (Ron, if you can come up with a whine/bitch/moan/snivel/complain icon, I promise I'll use it!)

bajalou is my new HERO!!!:icon_luv::icon_luv: Actually, I think it was a combination of Grunon :icon_luv:& bajalou:icon_luv:!

I just found a place by right clicking on TB page/View Page info/MORE at the bottom took me to a place I'd never been before....which contains stored usernames & passwords for this site.....I deleted "Username" & it's associated password.

My PC has not self-destructed....YET!:icon_lol:

Heh.

It's just birthing pangs; combined with a learning curve unusually steep because this is some Very fully-featured software.

I'm a Furious Fiddler® like everybody else. I find it helpful to only make ONE CHANGE AT A TIME.

You should have seen me a few minutes ago. Multiple user accounts in XP; I installed a new version of Firefox, found old, out-of-date bookmarks with one user, tried an import of my latest backup, and instead of overwriting it appended to the end!

Tried it again with equally disastrous results; I now had Library of Congress-sized problem.

Resolved with a massive delete/re-import...{Phew!}

Closed everything and I've got 3(!) Firefox shortcuts on the desktop...no problem>>Cntl select two of them...

*Err0r* cAnNoT rEaD sOuRCe fIle...

All 3 dead; none would launch Firefox.

Start>Programs>Mozilla>Firefox>Send To>Desktop(create shortcut)...ahh. Now they work.

On and on and on like that...eventually ironed it out.

Downloaded FF3.1 and set to remember passwords. Doesn't but now I can type 'S' and get screen name and password. Better.

THEN...On permissions unclicked set cookies default and set to 'allow' cookies. On security set to show passwords. Fixed!
