I've seen that message a few times; don't recall exactly what I was doing when I got it. Maybe clicked the logon arrow when it still had Username/default password in fields?

Avatar is User CP(top left)>>Edit Avatar(about 1/3 of the way down left side)>>then you can 1)select a generic 2)upload one or 3)enter an existing url and hotlink it in.

I have brought up the Off Topic forum area to be visible but not accessible without admin approval. This is so folks who might want to participate can see it and request access. That is the message you would get if you try to enter. I might need to go in and adjust the off-topic area so it does not appear in searches as that might be where you are trying to get in from.

I can tell you exactly what I'm doing. When I go to hottest threads and click on either "Where in baja and why" or" troll",thats where I get this message.

Ok i get it in Spain and what were these guys thinking. How do I get into off topics I don't like being locked out. I know Ron sent something but can't find it.If I don't like it I can not read it.k

a HotButton in each post or on the left side where the member's avatar etc is for PM-ing a member would be nice. I'm going to try my first PM to 'Gringo for the password.

ok- I just PM'ed! (yikes, sounds kinda wierd!)

I noticed there's a dropdown list of member names when you start to type the recipient. That's nice to have. Getting the spelling of some of these names can be tricky.

For a PM just click on the username in the post and a drop down box appears where you can select Send a Private Message to the user.

I'm probably one of the more "forum challenged" people around. I've only really been on one other forum, so looking for all these neat features is all Greek to me.

The best way to learn is just by trying things out. The FAQ link about will cover most of your questions. If you can't find an answer please feel free to ask and one of us will be happy to help you with it and that way others with the same questions will find an answer as well...
