I would love to see a Spanish language forum ---would love to see many of the idioms and local sayings shared.

I can learn, hablo, habla, hablamos, etc. elsewhere, but common usage is something else.

Enjoyed the video.

"Hijo de La Chingada."
I once had a full book of Chingoles, sayings with La Chingada. I don't have any idea where it is.
By the same token, I used to have a slim, muscular body and I can't find that either.

Hmmmmmmmm....I thought I posted this yesterday, but they say memory is one of the first things to go! Either that or an overzealous Moderator came along....naw none of the Mods here are overzealous, except when it comes to stamping out pic eating bugs!

Only if there's a "Translate to English" button!

I've got a whole bunch of saying/slang saved from all over. I'd be glad to post them here.

"En la cama y la carcel, se conoce a los amigos."

You know who your friends are in bed and in jail.

When posting in Spanish it would help to also post the English translation at the same time.

Took me a long time to understand that when she said NO in Spanish it translated into No in English also.

Thumbs up Re: How About A Spanish Language Forum?

I vote for a Spanish forum, with or without translation.
I kinda prefer without, which forces me to figure it out for myself. Also, some things don't translate well at all.

I agree, and I don't agree---how about that for a clear statement.

I also like to struggle to figure out what is written and I do read Spanish a lot better than I speak or understand it.

However, for the expressions, especially the ones that do not translate exactly, and have another meaning, idioms, etc., it would be helpful and edumacational to me, to have them explained best as possible.

For example, our great leader used the word ojala, and to the best of my knowledge, it has no definite meaning and it is used more as an interjection, but I am not sure.

I hear it used in the sense of "hopefully...", or "I hope [I wish]". That would be my guess from BajaGringo's context.

Hey, see? We've already started a Spanish topic!

I would lurk. My Spanish is not good enough to be helpful to anyone. Lately I am using Google so much, I'm not sure I've mastered English.

¡narcofiesta en altamár!

I never get invited to the good ones.

...No se encontraron armas ni drogas, pero sí cientos de botes de cerveza..."

How ABOUT A Spanish forum, Marty?

For my next suggestion, I'm going to recommend a search function.
