Default La Bufadora Art Show on July 3

LA BUFADORA, ENSENADA, Baja California – On Saturday, July 3, 2010, Restaurant La Bufadora will host its annual art show from noon-5pm. The event will be held on the ocean view patio and grounds of the restaurant, which is located near the famous blowhole near the tip of the Punta Banda peninsula, 21 miles south of Ensenada. Admission is free.

The La Bufadora Art Show will feature a wide variety of art forms including acrylic and watercolor paintings, photography, sculptures, pottery, woven baskets, string art, jewelry, fabric purses, quilts and more. It is an exceptional opportunity to meet and buy directly from local professional, up-and-coming and student artists.

Among the many participating artists and groups are:
-- Huichol Indians with amazing, vibrantly colored string art and intricate beadwork.

-- Adalberto Pérez Meillón, owner of Ensenada’s Galería Pérez Meillón (Galeria Perez Meillon - Mata Ortiz Pottery, Indian and Fine Arts of Mexico), with Pai-Pai pottery, Kumiai baskets, and his own original serigraphs and acrylic paintings on handmade amate tree bark paper.

-- Robert Pace Kidd (RPK), who specializes in bas-relief sculpture in leather with a western cowboy motif.

-- Enrique Avilez, creator of the proposed “Manos Bicentenarias (Bicentennial Hands)” sculpture (http://www.youtube.com/avilezenrique) that will welcome visitors as they enter Ensenada, with his paintings and adobe sculptures.

-- “A Mano” Artist Co-op in Ensenada with copper jewelry, hand-painted gourds, glass sculpture and other handcrafted items.

-- Painter/muralist Scott Kennedy (Scott O. Kennedy Maritime Art) with watercolors, limited edition prints and note cards.

-- Intuitive artist Laura Jean Thompson (Home - Laura Jean's Art) with unique sculptures.

-- Students from the Casa de la Cultura in Maneadero with original art.

-- Samma with watercolor, pastel and acrylic paintings.

-- Marie-Pierre (Sew and so what?) with one-of-a-kind fabric purses, hats, quilts and doggie suits, all handmade from (mostly) recycled materials.

-- Pat Haley with homemade chocolate works of art.

Restaurant La Bufadora is located on the Carretera a la Bufadora inside the hairpin curve before the entrance to the blowhole shopping mall. For additional information about the art show or vendor booths, contact Jan Burg at cell tel. (646)160-5521 or e-mail
