Default New Info on Naturalization Process

I just had a conversation with Gilberto Piñeda who specializes in helping people get mexican citizenship. He told me that anyone over 60 years of age does NOT have to take the rather rigorous exam in spanish. He also mentioned that the exam was a bit easier now...so this is good news for retirees here in baja who want to become citizens. you can contact me for his contact info.

Great news. thanks! I have a few years to go before I can apply but was already dreading that exam after looking at some of the lists of study questions. Maybe they figure that we seniors will forget what we know, anyhow?

Learning Spanish is an ongoing endeavor, especially in upper years. Learn one word....forget two.

I don't think I have ever forgotten anything.
If I have I do not remember what it was.

Shari:

I noticed that they pulled the old study list of questions off line. Have you seen any reference to an updated one???

They say this new guide is effective as of July 2009:

See also:

I don't see a mention of the exam being waived for applicants over 60, but maybe that's something they prefer not to mention on the website.

Clarification por favor....."60 years of age does NOT have to take the rather rigorous exam in spanish." Does this mean the test will be given in English....or no exam at all?

The fact that you qualified the sentence with....in spanish but went on to say the test is a bit easier tells me 60+ still have to take the test, just not in Spanish.

A friend sent me these 4 study guides with questions and answers. They are dated from last year so I am not sure if they still apply to the current test but it can't hurt...

I'm laughing! Just started out of nowhere when I read the not forgetting note. Too funny!
