I like the idea of a singel police force. As it is you dont know who to trust or not .Theyre so many divisons of police they have to wear badges to keep from hustleing each other. Then add all the different divisons of the military. It gets confusing

Have you heard of different police forces here facing off? It happens from time to time. The cartels love that - they call it divide and conquer...

In days of yore, the biggest problem involving, especially local police, was the corruption dealing with traffic infractions and the like. In recent years, it's elevated to involvement running point for the cartels. While the two greatest factors encouraging corruption continue to be poor pay and the lack of training, it just seems to me that considering the huge amount of money the cartels can throw around, even a single, better paid and better trained force would still be subject to the monetary influence of the cartels. I just don't think a single state police force will resolve current problems until such time as the drug cartels are eliminated or neutralized.
There is also something to be said for local policing. Seems to me that, at least in the US, putting more officers on the street, even walking a beat, results in less local crime. |
