![]() ![]() BG, could you please add a column next to the "Total Post Count"....titled "Total Posts Read"? Please let us all know whether reading a post multiple times adds to the "Total Post Read" count....or generates demerits for poor reading retention? ![]() ![]() Wooo is the strong silent type! ![]() ![]() |

I met Chuck Conner many moons ago when he was living up in Tehachapi. He had a place close by a good friend of mine. Was just a regular old guy who drove an old pickup truck, wore a faded denim shirt, jeans and dirty old cowboy boots. Talked with him a bit and was very nice sharing about his life and living up on the mountain.
I asked him at that time if I were to ever have an internet forum in the future, long after he was gone if he thought it would be a good idea to rank people based on posts read. He thought about it for a moment, gave me that classic rifleman cold stare and then spit in the spitton as he walked out the door. I took that as a no...

OK, well...
I really did meet him though. And I even seem to recall him spitting as he left, But I bet that would have really been his answer... ![]() ![]() ![]()

Kevin Joseph Aloysius Connors.
Sheesh. At least spell his name correctly. We Brooklynites appreciate it! ![]() Chuck Connors - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia |

Who would have thought this tough cowboy had brooklyn roots? He lost all traces of his early beginnings by the time I caught with him in the early 90's. The small ranch lifestyle up at Tehachapi seemed to suit him just fine. I also saw Jack Palance at the little country store up there. I guess it must be a popular spot for those guys.
I was a big fan of the Rifleman as a small boy growing up and I couldn't resist the opportunity to walk up and introduce myself. Conners was very gracious and actually spent the better part of an hour talking with me. Never mentioned Brooklyn though...

Come to think of it, this is probably the first time I mentioned Brooklyn in like 30 years!

Yea, Bear Valley is the private community where a lot of folks escape to. I have several friends living there or who maintain vacation homes. Some of them probably know your dad. Ask him if he knows a fireman named Trembush from Bakersfield....
