Default Re: Mexico prez: cartels show no 'limits or scruples' (AP)

Ernesto Lopez Portillo, director of the Institute for Security and Democracy, complained to the president that the results of the crackdown don't seem consistent will all the resources poured into fighting crime.

Some things never change. A little off topic but nonetheless interesting. Ernesto Lopez Portillo is the son of former Mexican President Jose Lopez Portillo. Appointed by his brother-in-law President Jose Lopez Portillo, "El Negro Durazo" was the supreme head of all military and law enforcement forces in Mexico. Every single cop in Mexico had to pay tribute ($) to "El Negro Durazo". This guy ruled with an iron fist and if you were against him, you died. For all intents and purposes he was a mini Saddam Hussein. People all over Mexico feared him. His teenage son drove around Mexico City in a Lamborghini and is said to have murdered and raped at will. It is a known fact that under the leadership of "Negro Durazo", drugs started to really gain a foothold in Mexico. He opened the doors to the Colombians (for a fee) and then he ordered thousands upon thousands of hectarias to be planted with Amapola.

Just saying...
