One of the features of the system software is the Calendar. There are many forums out there that have the calendar function but it is rarely utilized as designed, mainly because forum staff don't have the time needed to keep it updated. Instead it turns into a simple birthday calendar working off your forum profiles.

I would like to make this a good tool for us and others looking at our site. I created a Baja Events Forum, where I have posted a few upcoming events and where you can get an idea of a basic format I have suggested. For those of you out there with some creative talent feel free to spice up your event posts to draw interest to the event.

After posting the event, just copy your post content and click on the Calendar. Below the calendar on the right hand side is a box labeled "Add New Event". Click on the correct event type and then paste the event you previously posted into the box of the event description. Enter the correct dates/times and post. You can go back in and edit the event as needed. The calendar offers the ability create single all day events, ranged events over a few hours on a single day or covering several days and recurring events that will occur on the same day each year.

Much of what goes on here in Baja are local events that seem to receive a good share of publicity locally but not much else except by word of mouth and forums like this.

I would like to find some forum members here living in different Baja communities who will make a small effort to post their local events in the Baja Events Forum and then post a Calendar event. The forum is being spidered by Google on a regular basis and combined with our other Baja related content, the calendar events should receive good ranking. This will only enhance your local events success and help promote our forum.

You will need to have permissions enabled to be able to post Calendar Events, If you are interested in helping out, send me a PM.

Man, you waited a long, long time!

Just clicked on the Calendar for the first time. Didn't even know it was there. Sorry, but I live too far from anywhere that has events to post anything!

I nominate Bob H as calendar scribe!!! Bob, please don't read this nomination as any kind of a punishment for pulling up OLD threads!

We're retired....we don't need no stinkin calendar, watch, or cultural events....just getting to this age brings a whole new definition to "events"!

Calendar events can be anything of interest in your local area, big or small. Events posted there will show up at the bottom of the home page as well...
