I guess I should have been more specific - as the Pacific coastline is not all directly west facing I was wondering if their property was on a bay, cove or peninsula that would give them a different angle towards sunrise... ![]()

We face southeast, actually a little more toward the east than south. It's a weird perspective for the west coast. When I aligned my cell phone antenna with the tower in Insurgentes, it faces what appears to be (from our perspective) open ocean. The sun sets behind us over land.

Anybody else out there like me who benefits from a picture, here's why we have sunrises over water even tho we're on the West coast of the peninsula

And we in central La Paz get sunsets over the water despite being on the East coast of the Peninsula. Takes some getting used to. I can turn left or right on the Malecon at the end of my street and wind up heading North. Go figure!!

Average nice days are west or southwest at 9-12 mph, with quite a few days like today at 28mph out of the west. West winds are offshore for us. |

Your area sounds very similar to ours so a good wind turbine or two (or three) should really help. The wind kept us going the past couple of weeks when there was not a lot of power coming out of our solar panels.
As soon as Chava finishes up with astrobaja's observatory I will put him to work here for a week to help us get the next wind turbine up and running , as well as a couple of other projects...

Most of the newer versions today are not noisy at all. Friends and neighbors who come by all comment that they can't even hear mine standing outside less than 30 feet away. In fact I have now seen over 20 different wind turbine installs in the last year and have yet to come across one of those "noisy" turbines I keep reading about online.
I have come to the conclusion that either they are talking about some really large turbine (> 2kW) or the whole thing is an urban myth...
