Default Hoping to fulifill a dream

I haven't posted on here since last December....but I check out this website almost daily. I live out my dream of retiring in Mexico by reading the exploits of you people that are"livin' the dream".
My wife and I first went to Mexico in 1984. Visited Mazatlan, PV, Guadalajara, Patzcuaro. Morelia, San Miguel de Allende, and Guanajuato. We were absolutely blown away by the people, culture, food, etc. We've spent at least 2 weeks a year since 84' vacationing there. The last 15 years we've stayed in Mazatlan......almost purchased about 10 years ago. Also, taken 4 cruises to Mexico in last 2 years. In Feb. 2011 we're going on a 9 day cruise and one of the stops will be La Paz. DW and I really excited...... La Paz has been on our must see list for 20 years! I'm REALLY hoping DW loves it enough to want to return in the spring and buy property there! If that happens....MARGARITAS FOR EVERYONE!!!!!

La Paz must be a great place as I have had the good fortune to have met so many wonderful people who have chosen to make that part of the peninsula their home. I am just not very good at heat (even dry heat) for more than a few days but if you don't mind the higher temperatures you will probably love it....

BG,
To be perfectly honest...I'm like you ..I much prefer a cooler climate. Give me 65-75 degrees..I'm happy.
DW likes warmer weather and I think she prefers being within an hour of a good hospital. Not that we have any health issues..but I think she's looking down the road..as we get really up in age. If I had my druthers...I would have been down to your neck of the woods a year ago! I keep telling her that the climate in San Quintin is similar to San Diego....which she enjoys!!?? Maybe if you put a "Medical Center" sign on the front door of your casa..I could convince her that quality emergency health care is easily available!! But..maybe if she sees you in a white coat...she might think the sign said "Mental Center"....lol!! Seriously... I don't know if she would enjoy living "off the grid" ...solar, wind power and water trucked in. Also, I think she might feel "safer" living in Baja Sur. So... we will see. Take care BG..and Merry Xmas!!

Terry,
Just was talkin about you to the wife last night!. I saw on baja nomad where you had posted "I support God...Israel...etc. Told DW "He thinks just like we do. I bet we would get along just great". Every time I see one of your posts...I wonder if you're in Ensenada or Nevada.
Hope you had a great summer and you and your DW are doing well.. We haven't had any rain here since the middle of July. That's a long time between rain up here.
Thanks for the "tour offer". Does the tour come with margaritas??

Take care,
Ralph

You might take a look in Todos Santos. It has the West Coast climate, and with the improved road, is about an hour from the hospitals and other services in La Paz.

I wouldn't care to meet Dr. Glock. Especially... when Teniente says "Dr. Glock is going to give you something to help you sleep"!!!!
