Mike and Don-Kay Baja Trek 2010-2011
On Saturday, December 11, 2010 the team of Mike Younghusband, Don-Kay and Solo walked across the border between Baja Califronia (Norte) and Baja California Sur.
Mike, Don-Kay and Solo walked about 6 miles and crossed into Baja California Sur, Mountain Time Zone, and more adventures to soon come their way! About mid-day Sunday, Mike sent out a signal just east of Saturday's... Now at the Y intersction for Guerrero Negro...

I really hope they can find a nice place to stay for the holidays. The team deserves a nice break...

Mike seems to be liking that intersection. Must be a very attractive young lady working at a nearby fish taco stand or something...

Looking almost straight north from the southbound exit out of Guerrero Negro; it's that "rustic" place hard by the highway on the right. Outskirts of town visible off in the distance on the left.

Maybe that's part of the rancho where Don-Kay is getting his shoes? I don't know how accurately Mike's location is pinpointed, but it seems unlikely that he'd be camped in the middle of an intersection for two days.

The last image I posted is the view from 17,000+ feet up! You need to zoom in more to see the ranch houses, corral, etc. that are there.
This is SOUTH of the Hwy. 1 'Y' Intersction or Guerrero Negro entrance. I have not yet tried the Google Earth street view images... they must be pretty cool? A thread of all the gasoline locations seen along Hwy. 1 from El Rosario south may be interesting? Bryanmckenzie on Nomad made up a map showing gas stations on Google Earth.

That was a Google Street View.
Here's rotated around to the other side of the street; about 200 yards south of where the SPOT arrow indicated. I see lots of nice spots to hang there for both of them. |

the next half of the leg is to be completed.. still a big job... Oh, is he walking back...
