Car Thieves Shoot at Vehicle's Owner

TIJUANA .- A young man, resident of the United States was shot at by criminals this afternoon, on the Playas de Tijuana - Rosarito toll road while trying to retrieve a vehicle stolen about a year ago.

He explained that while driving on the toll road, a few meters after the toll booth in Playas de Tijuana he saw a Nissan Titan pickup and immediately recognized it as his own. He made the decision to follow the stolen vehicle while driving a Chevrolet Tahoe.

When he made signs to the car to stop, three other cars approached from which several shots were fired, piercing the bodywork of the Chevrolet Tahoe and at that point he gave up the chase.

The victim, who declined to be identified was unhurt but said that it was the biggest scare of his life.

This was kind of an odd story in that another version of it said a Rosarito municipal police officer and associates attempted to intercept the stolen car.

The comments in that second article are precious. Some wonder what Mexican police are doing driving an armored Chevy with CA plates. Others bear witness to being there and seeing no Titan.
