We are invited to a New Year's bash out at El Molino Viejo tonight. Just wondering what/where the rest of you are planning for bringing in 2011???

On a similar note to Bob H, almost ten years ago, while living in Topanga Canyon, we were enticed to attend a New Years party that friends were hosting in Yorba Linda. After the party, and I won't BS anyone on this, I had several libations, we headed out on the freeway to home. Honest to God, during our post midnight trip, we witnessed three individual episodes of vehicles crashing into the center divider. One of them was way too close to us for comfort. Since then, it has been Auld Lang Syne en casa.

I agree Bajahowood. We were invited to several parties in TJ but it's just not worth the risk of getting in a accident with some drunk. So we are at home waiting for the NY ball to drop.

Nice quiet bbq, and a celebration at what our neighbor calls Baja Midnight (9:00 p.m.) then probably to bed. Boring Huh...

Town is ramping up for an all night party though. I can even hear the band warming up, and we're over a mile outside town...the parlor is all decked out, and M-80's are going off everywhere

Elizabeth's daughter, son, and their 'squeezes' are here for tonight... We have a new bottle of Añejo Tequila to break it! My kids have their own plans... I hope everyone stays safe and off the highway!

Oh good!! Since so many others are staying home, I guess it's safe to answer now....the party will be in my bedroom! All of us except the bird on the bed snuggled up to me....I'll be the one with the bowl of ice cream & Maggie & Jenny will hopefully be rocking out to old Rock 'n Roll I'm cranking up in an effort to drown out the M-80's up & down the hill! Poor Maggie!! She was shaking so hard a few nights ago her teeth were chattering! I did feel sorry for her....as I was trying hard not to let her see me

Sitting here with a single malt scotch, waiting for the ball to drop....and then .....off to bed.

I am driving around in a big red truck with flashing party lights all over it and I fire some righteous noisemakers whenever anyone gets close.

You party animal, you!! Very doubtful, but I hope you had a peaceful shift!!

We had a great time last night, stopping to see several friends along the way where we were invited to tamales, posole, carnitas, menudo and lots of holiday cheer before arriving at El Molino and spending the evening with our good friend Meño and his family. They had a great set up and there was lots of food, music, a huge bonfire and fun. We brought in the new year with a bang and then made it back home, safe and sound...

I only have one more New Years eve that I will have to work. Retirement will be 12/31/2012 at the latest.

I think we may been the first in bed!
After spending the afternoon in the Guadalupe Valley visiting the few wineries that were open which all poured very generously and then a big dinner we got home and pretty much called it a night. I think we were in bed by 8:30 can anyone beat that??

Well, that's funny! I can't tell you that because I don't know how much OT there will be or how many fires we will be on due to the bumper crop of gasoline, I mean tall grass, we will have now but I can tell you how much leave I have on the books for between now and then......I think it works out to about 36 shifts of leave between now and then.....and you can bet I will be taking the time and not the cash-out.....time is far more valuable to me than a couple of dollars in the end.
I am taking 8 24 hour shifts of leave at the end of May for our sojourn to La Paz and points in between and that equates to 28 days off.......
Can you tell I have the short-timer's disease bad?

I did up 4 kilos of ribs, the wife made a huge pot of beans, and off to her sister's house to ring in the new year. Stuffed and sober, drove home just after midnight. Other than fireworks, La Paz was quiet last night. Soulpatch, I know how the time drags while you are waiting, but the closer you get, the faster it goes! Next thing you know, you are in La Paz, planning fishing trips and eating like a king!!

Bajabass- are you in La Paz for goods now?
