U.S. Agents Claim They are Lacking the Resources to Combat the Drug War
03/09/11— The ATF, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, has come under scrutiny after the “Fast and Furious” program was discovered earlier this week. Although now, the Bureau is voicing complaints that U.S. ATF agents stationed in Mexico are at a disadvantage because of a policy which prohibits agents from being armed as well … Read more

Last I checked, Mexico was a sovereign nation.

Re: U.S. Agents Claim They are Lacking the Resources to Combat the Drug War
I can't remember ever in the past that I was so ashamed to be an American in Mexico as I am at this time, after the Fast 'n Furious exposé. How can we ever again be indignant over the errors of the Mexican government?

Re: U.S. Agents Claim They are Lacking the Resources to Combat the Drug War
I think that a large part of the problem is that we have created too many large, powerful and overfunded agencies that all seem to be operating more like rogue thugs at times, believing that they are above the law and out of reach of any oversight.
For example, do we really need to have: Homeland Security FBI CIA ATF DEA ICE Border Patrol Secret Service Sherriff's Highway Patrol Police National Guard I know there are more but that is what I could come up with off the top of my head. Add to that the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force and Coast Guard and you have lots of different agencies operating independently and I cannot even begin to imagine how any of it could be completely coordinated or controlled. Not sure I have an answer but this doesn't appear to be it...

Geez. OK. I know that there are some people on this forum who accuse me of having animus towards GWB. But the unvarnished history is that whether you may wish to label it as a concerted effort to obtain power, or just a jumble of happenstance, the post- 9/11 efforts by the gummint have given us what we've got.

Re: U.S. Agents Claim They are Lacking the Resources to Combat the Drug War
Unfortunately. And I really mean this. It would appear that there is a "higher power". History will tell the story. But it seems that as much as we would like to think that our so-called elected leaders will go forward with the agenda of their campaign, it's becoming abundantly clear that Obama is being controlled by forces beyond the main street, day to day people.
This nation is now, and more and more, in the hands of an oligarchy seeking total power. How else could I view so many of Obama's campaign platform issues being kicked to the side of the road? Just perhaps. And it's a big perhaps. He either just doesn't get it, or that he was not the avenging angel the left supported. I admittedly have a left of center perspective, as did so many Obama supporters in the campaign. On some level, I'm drawn to the notion that there are forces, incredibly rich folks, who have decided to shape this nation for their own profit. |
