Default Current Road Conditions

Hola all,

Any ideas on where to find the "best and most current" Baja road conditions report?

Thanks for any help.

Don't know of any "all-inclusive" site that covers all of Baja for road reports but why not tell us what route you are considering and we can begin there...

Sorry, I had to have a few days of siesta time. I would like to find a good permanent source for current "road conditions" reports. Mostly only use Mexico 1 from Tijuana to Cabo.

Any help is GREATLY appreciated!

Just drove last week from TJ to Loreto. Road is in excellent condition with only a few bridge construction, short bypasses, and, of course like always, some rough stretches around Catavina.
And the Baja Insider usually has the best latest road news.

Not sure just what you are seeking. As a guess, you are looking to go from top to tip. This time of year, weather should not be a consideration. So, there would appear to be only two issues.

First, construction. By and large, there are minimal construction delays on Mex 1. There has been a problem just South of Ensenada as they widen the road all the way to Colonet. But, they are intermittent, causing significant delays only when they are blasting hillsides. Similarly, a good deal of bridge construction, but by and large, the bypasses present very minor delays, if any.

The second issue would be the condition of the pavement. And there are some stretches that could really use some rehab. Just hard to go 100mph over the potholes. (kidding)

That said, unless one is making the trip during the prime rainy season, road conditions are no more of a worry than would be geting behind a semi just starting up a long serpentine grade.

You rang?

I was southbound Apr. 29 from Otay using the Corredor 2000 to Hwy. 1, then south to Km. 148/149 south of El Rosario (El Marmol road).

I was on Hwy. 1 northbound on May 1 Sunday from Rancho Sonora (Km. 149/150) to El Sauzal (Ensenada area), then Hwy. 3 to Tecate.

Both directions were in great shape. All bridges that were washed out in Jan. 2010 are back in business. No detours, only a short, smooth dirt section south of Ensenada where they are widening the road near Uruapan. Road to Tecate, all paved, no dirt detours as in the past 8 months.

Big wild 'Lost Mission Expedition' trip report has been posted on Baja Nomad... Anybody not see it, and would like it here?

Take care!
