New Asia-Pacific Institute of Baja California to Foster Stronger Ties with Mexico and the U.S., and Promote Investment with the Baja Region
The Ambassador of Korea to Mexico, Whan-Bok Cho, and the trade ministers of China, Japan, India and Australia together with the Governor of Baja California inaugurated the new Asia-Pacific Institute at CETYS University in Tijuana, Baja California. Tijuana, Mexico (PRWEB) May 30, 2011 Baja California is now the first State in Mexico with an Asia-Pacific Institute that will enable cooperation and business development between Baja California and the fastest growing market in the world; Asia. The inaugural ceremony of the institute was held within the 4th annual Asia-Baja California Forum that highlights the trade and investment The Institute will be located at CETYS University in Tijuana, and will be managed in partnership with the Tijuana EDC, and representatives of local and state governments. The Asia/Pacific Institute will provide the opportunity for scholars and the business community, to interact and develop activities with selected countries of the Asia region and to connect with universities and companies that will support the flow of ideas, culture and trade between this countries and Mexico. Jaime Gonzalez Luna, President of the Tijuana EDC stated, “we look forward to collaborating with the Asia-Pacific Institute, and I´m sure it will generate a closer relation with these important countries, it will increase our commercial interaction and foster more innovation”. During the Asia-Baja Forum, honorable Dinesh K. Jain Ambassador of India sent a message that highlighted Baja California´s trade potential, “Baja California is commercially a particularly important state of Mexico can have significant potential for forging new business ties with India. Your closest proximity to the world’s major economic powerhouse, and Mexico’s NAFTA membership, add greatly to your attractiveness”, said the Ambassador. The event showcased the business opportunities within the state of Baja California and Asia. Alejandro Bustamante, President of Plantronics, remarked that 80% of Plantronics’s supplies come from Asia and most of its exports go to China, Japan and Korea, transforming the Tijuana operation of Plantronics into the first supplier worldwide. source... |
