Father, son dead after crashing stolen plane in Baja

Civil authorities say a father and son in Baja California stole a small airplane, crashed it and died.

Officials say the alleged hijackers were apparently planning to fly the Cessna to the state of Sinaloa.

The plane was sitting on the runway at the Hotel Palmas de Cortes and was owned by a tourist staying there. Navy and army officials went in pursuit of the small craft after it was reported stolen. But it plummeted into an area known as La Linea between Los Barriles and El Cardonal.

The men were identified as Jose Rosario Avila Carillo and his son Cirilo Avila Holguin.
