I'm Slowly Fading Away
I'm Slowly Fading Away
As this palapa progresses along my signal is slowly getting weaker. I hope they slow down so I have internet at least for the rest of this trip. I don't have a new pole to move it yet |

I see a tall post you could use as an extension.

Re: I'm Slowly Fading Away
That your property? If it is, why the trailer? The casita too full of imported items for you to stay in it? And if it is your property, WHY did you build the palapa in direct line with the satellite dish? Maybe I'll have to be retracting my comments about how sharp I think you & Ola are!

If not for the upper deck it would have been ok. It's that upper deck, right in line with my dish thats starting to decrease (and eventually block) the signal. Fortunately I've stayed at a holiday inn express and I know how to re-align the dish . I'll just have to call up bajabus and order some new cables and bring a mounting pole next time and redo it. It was going to have to be moved closer to the main house anyway, looks like I'm going to do it sooner than expected . |

Your neighbor got a grudge against you? Or is he just a thoughtless dumb-head? Have you asked him if he understands the basic principle of how a satellite dish performs it's function? I'm thinking this might not bode well for your future as neighbors....if THIS is any indication!

Yes, to think somebody might worry about the placement of their house in regards to a sat-dish. Diii.....!
Shoot, I moved my trailer probably 6 times, much to the amusement of my neighbors, before it settled into it's permanent resting place........sometimes as little as a foot. Gotta be perfect. I KNOW every ff in the world is capable of some southern engineering.......come on, buddy! QUOTE=longlegsinlapaz;3316]Your neighbor got a grudge against you? Or is he just a thoughtless dumb-head? You have to admit moving the dish is a simple job.
Placing the dish on the ground is just inviting future problems with reception. |

Re: I'm Slowly Fading Away
I'm not worried, moving the dish is a pain in that I've got to re-concrete a new post, run new cable and re-align it, I just just thought it was kinda funny that if I would have put the dish 3 or 4 feet further from our house (or if the deck was 3 or 4 feet further down the lot), it would have been good and I wouldn't have to mess with it. Since the land is so flat here, no matter what anyone does it has some affect on the neighbors.
Dish has to be on the ground though. A 1.2 meter sat dish up on the roof would be subjected to too much wind, it would cease to be a dish and become a sail. If we want TV, unless we get Sky, I need a 1.8 meter dish (6'). Gonna start to look like we're searching the skies for aliens |

Re: I'm Slowly Fading Away
I used to have that problem when I lived up in Sequoia. Those cedars up there grow faster than dandelions and would constantly be cutting my signal. I finally had to run a line up to a rock face 300 feet away and installed a signal amp.

I work in Laguna and there's a contractor who I know that lives in Laguna and works across the street from me. He has a place on the east cape also, so I thought you might be him. |
