Default Trying to escape winter

Hola, I am not a resident yet. I have been visiting the area for many years and it has always been my dream to live there. I am arriving 12/4/11 and am determined to find a long term furnished rental. I have contacted a realtor in Rosarito but seem to be having pet troubles. I have a Goldendoodle and everyone seems to want to rent to someone with a little dog. Plus being retired on a fixed income, I don't want to spend 1,200 a month for rent. I also am interested in Ensenada. If anyone knows of anything let me know. I'll be eternally grateful. I'd like to get settled before Mother Nature starts thinking about snow/sleet/freezing rain. Typical Ohio weather. It's nice to have a source for information and be able to keep up to date with the happenings. Sylvia

Hi Sylvia! Kinda exciting/scary to be making the move! Good for you!
I would suggest that you take a look a bit further south if you can't get a place that works into your budget in Rosarito or Ensenada.
We have visited San Quintin a few times, and really like the small town feel and total lack of a tourism economy there. There are several rentals in the area, and my sense is that most of them are on the bay or near the beach.
No big stores, not many fancy (by norte standards) eateries, but it has everything you need.
Good luck as you work your way through the next few weeks.

Plenty of places in Ensenada.....and NO SNOW.

I would suggest the Punta Banda area, try the Punta Banda Newsletter:

Compared to Ohio in the winter, most anywhere in Baja is warm/temperate.

Well, astrobaja and crew do get snow up at their place in San Pedro de Martir but with few exceptions it really is quite nice down here. You just need to decide if you want:

mild winter / warm summer - (Pacific Side)

warm winter / hot summer - (Sea of Cortez Side)
