Default Health Care

I read today that Obuma will now allow the States to Control the health care requirements on a state level instead of the federal government controling them. What about those who are US citizens and live in a foreign country and have health care from a corporation and have no home status in any state? I wonder if our wonderful government has that one figured out?

Our government does not care about your medical problems, especially if you are out of the country.

You should always have a US residence address as a fall back precaution.

The only reason I do not want that is for Income Tax purposes. I know being from Nevada that is not a problem. If I keep an Arizona residence and Arizona auto registration then they will try to get income tax from my retirement pay.

The following states have no personal state income taxes:

Alaska, Florida, Nevada, South Dakota, Texas, Washington and Wyoming. Two others, New Hampshire and Tennessee, tax only dividend and interest income.

The secret is to pick a state that has no, or low personal state income tax, low property taxes (by state and county/city), and low other fees or taxes such as vehicle registrations.

Also, there is a difference between your listed or claimed state and a state listed as a home of record.

OK so could I get my auto licensed in Nevada without a resident address?

You certainly can in South Dakota....done over the internet. All you need is a mailing address wherever you want your documents and plates sent to and a postal service, such as Postal Annex will suffice.

Listen to Dennis, unless you have a friend in Nevada that lives in any county except Clark (Las Vegas) and Washoe (Reno)

Alaska requires a physical address, no PO boxes, for auto registration. I asked how folks living on boats or in transient housing do it, and was told that they use the street address of the Post Office. Sounded like a common practice, at least in Petersburg.

I need to look into getting a SD registration. One of the first things I'm going to do after the first. Did we ever figure out if they now require you to have a South Dakota driver's license or not...
