This lovely mare was rescued several years ago by The Baja Animal Sanctuary in Rosarito. When I started doing volunteer work there I rode her as often as I could because she is a very sweet horse. She was very abused and neglected before but amazingly still loves humans.

I was able to find a great place to keep her in La Mision and on Christmas Eve, she joined my ever growing family of rescued critters here in Baja.

I am amazed at the number of horses that are homeless and roaming free, where they get killed almost daily on the highways. One of the local ranchers in La Mision has set aside a large plot of pasture where any horse can live in peace and safety. If they are adoptable and/or ridable, several of us work to find them permanent homes. If not, they can stay at the ranch forever.

If you are looking for a horse, many of the ones at the ranch are great pleasure horses and can be ridden by fairly inexperienced riders. If any of the members of the forum are interested, reply to this posting and we'll see if we can find you a great horse. Cost is minimal to free, depending on the horse.

It is a truly wonderful thing to care for them like that.
