Default Buying Household Items in Mexico

A couple of you have stated it is cheaper to buy household items in Mexico like refrigerators. Where are you buying them? I have checked prices on refrigerators and they are more than in the states. I have also been looking for a nice queen size box springs and mattress They are more expensive and are smaller than American Queen matressses. I have my home in Ensenada.

There are several places in Ensenada that sell new scratch and dent stuff , like i bought a new Samsung tripel door refigerator Stainless steel for 800dls it has a couple dings in side pannels but it fits in a alcove where you cant see them .when I first moved here I bought a new whirlpool comercial duty washer and gas dryer for 300dls 8years later they are still working great next time you are in Ensenada check out the matress stores they have opened up a couple. the apliance guy delivers out here to Punta Banda and services what he sells

You have to shop around, at least in La Paz. When I was furnishing my house, I found a fridge I really liked, but the price was off the charts … 14,998 pesos. Another store had it for 11,998, which was still too high. Eventually I found it for 7,998 because it was a floor model and the last one left. At another appliance store, I got a substantial discount for buying the washer, dryer, and stove together.

The shorter queen mattress size is a pain, and you can't find sheets to fit. If I had it to do over, I'd get a king. But apparently some places do sell the longer queens, so look and ask around. IMHO a box spring is a total waste of money. I had a bed platform with drawers made instead.

Found our new Queen size bed set (Mattress & Box Springs), MFG by Sealy, pillow top and first quality at the COSTCO in Ensenada. When you figure out the shipping and customs hassle, it actually turned out to be cheaper than in the states. It's American sized, all of our sheets fit perfectly.

Also check out the Los Globos area of Ensenada. Plan on spending a day walking around and checking out the shops.
