Default Castañeda and Aguilar Camín presents his ‘Agenda’ toward prosperity, equality, and securit

02/29/12—A scholarly duo has begun a tour of Mexico, encouraging Mexicans to set their country on a new path to change. It is composed of Jorge G. Castañeda, former Secretary of Foreign Relations, prolific author, and judicially frustrated 2006 presidential candidate, along side journalist and historian Héctor Aguilar Camín. They believe Mexicans can create the … Read more

As far to the left that Jorge Castañeda seems to hang out, I'd rather take advice from a mind twisted Carlos Castañeda. A Yaqui Way of Knowledge would serve me far better than a Commie Way.

Dennis, I didn't read it as a call to move toward a more socialistic system, in fact, with the calls to end governmental ownership of monopolies like Pemex, it seems quite the opposite. I may be missing something (I usually am).

I'm not sure what he's saying as far as the drug problem is concerned, except that they favor dealing first with violent offenders who commit their crimes in Mexico, and leave how we deal with drug importers up to us. Given the disasterous impacts of the war on drugs to both countries I sort of agree.

The question I have is would they support the construction of a border wall to slow drug and human smuggglers?

Mexico has come a very long way in the 45 years I've been visiting. The middle class is growing, there are some gains as far as eliminating "independent contractor" policemen, and there have been huge improvements in the infrastructure.

I didn't spend much time going over the preamble to their book selling tour, but Jorge is one of the most outspoken socialist minds [albeit...a good one] in Mexico. Always has been and If he's toning it down a bit, it's probably because he needs the money. His usual target audience probably couldn't afford the book.

That's funny Dennis, thank you!
Thank you as well for providing some background, I figured it was something like this that inspired your observation.
