Default Nayarit - A Baja alternative

We are pretty much digging Nayarit.
Currently in Lo de Marcos which is quiet and beautiful... body surfed in warm water last night after dinner and then we had a heck of a lightening show!
San Pancho was super cool.... a lot going on culturally that resonates with us and mirrors the lifestyle we want.
We are here during low season so we can see it at it's "worst".
Same latitude as Maui and people pay big bucks for that!

Going to Sayulita later to look around.

Next Wednesday we will be going to the closing ceremonies at Escuela del Mundo where our kids can have the educational experience we desire.

Entre Amigos was awesome and presents a lot of stuff on a community basis that we try to do for our kids NOB....it's awesome.

Wow - sounds like you guys are really having a great time! Escuela del Mundo and Entre Amigos both sound like very cool stories - would like to hear more about them when you have a chance.

(I decided to move this to its own thread)

Smile Re: Nayarit - A Baja alternative

Thanks Ron.
It is way mellow here once you are out of the city.
We drove down to Bucerias to stock up at the Mega, even though we can get beef from the guy who doesn't wash his hands to give you change after he throws a giant chunk of beef up on his wooden table to give you the cuts you want(we are shifting our whole mindset) to the family who kills you a fresh chicken when you want it!
Gonna have to go down to San Pancho for the pescaderia... no hay una problema!
It was weird to be in such a bright, shiny store again.... not high on our list of priorities.
Funny, but there are many vistas here that remind us of baja.... well, except they are covered in fabulous jungle growth with all the attendant fauna!
Tell you what, AC is going to be a must... just to regulate mold in the humidity... plus, screw it, I can afford it!
Mango everywhere! With my allergy I think we will never eat out again.... but, hell, we;re pretty damn good cooks so not a big deal.
Off to make salsa fresca y tacos pollo asado.
Not diggin' this at all...

SP, your excitement comes through the keyboard! Thanks for sharing your stoke. Make the drive from Sayulita to Punta Mita via the old/new road along the coast. I've never done it, but it looks like a nice drive.
It would be interesting to have eyes on the off-season crowd situation in Sayulita. Can't be as crowded as February, I hope.....

The line up was not packed but there were only knee high waves.
I can see how in high season it is off the hook crowded.
Kind of reminded me a bit of how Playa del Carmen used to be before the massive growth.

Thumbs up Re: Nayarit - A Baja alternative

Latest and greatest:
We scored a house as a sublet in San Pancho! We will be there no later than Dec 10

I can not tell you how stoked we are.
It is only through the end of June but by then we will have our feet firmly on the ground there, our kids will have half a year of Escuela del Mundo under their belts and we will find our permanent abode.... or, if the person decides not to return, we may already have!
It doesn't matter, what does is that we are OUT of SoCal!

Hell yeah!

But, I'm feeling a bit subdued about it...or, I am the sub-dude.

Good for you Frank, can't wait to come visit. What's going to happen to your place in the ghetto, oops I mean Gecko?

Thumbs up Re: Nayarit - A Baja alternative

Thanks Larry,
It would be awesome for you to visit.... you could teach me how to fish and it has been years since I have gone diving.

Ah, yes, the ghetto.... if I had a feeling left you may have actually hurt it!

Well, the rent on it is paid through next the end of next August.
I would really like to find a partner because we love the bay.... somebody willing to park a trailer and put up a roof. I would not ask for any buy in, just pay the rent and then they could have access to the garage, solar, water... free reign, so to speak.

And, somebody who isn't a dick.... therein lies the hard part....I've had a couple of offers but I don't think I want the stereotypical drunk by 10:00 in the morning guys I have had offers from. sad to say.
I was trying to convince Kevin Abel but I hear he has another place in mind..... right?

If you have any suggestions let me know... or, if you really want to visit I will just have you scab out my solar stuff, bring it over and install it for me.... I'll buy you a Bud!
I hear it's imported down there.

Check out my FB page through Lois and have her look at Escuela del Mundo and Entre Amigos.... that is a big part of our move.

Congratulations Frank! Please don't forget about your Baja amigos when you have something to post online. That is such a world away in Nayarit. I spent about a week in Tepic and then several days in San Blas way back in 1971...

No sweat! At this point we are still keeping our place in BOLA.... a very special place to us.
Now, if I could just find a reasonable partner.........

In Hermosillo this morning....hitting the road to Mazatlan.

Just brought down my second load of life in my car and boat!

I spent the majority of yesterday nationalizing my car and boat/trailer.... super fun!

Anyway, just need to get Nayarit plates.... looking forward to picking up that tropical landscape today after a very brief visit to San Diego..... man, that is a haul when you are worried about paperwork!

Anyway, we are ALL legal up to our eyeteeth!
