Confused 15 second delay ofr Search

As you know, I use Firefox as my preferred browser.

I have dragged the TalkBaja icon from the address line to the Bookmarks Bar as I do for most favorite sites. I use this address TalkBaja.com - Baja Mexico Travel, Living and Retirement - Powered by vBulletin.

When the page comes up I then click on Today's Posts and get a message something like "Forum has a 15 second delay between searches. Please try again in ?? seconds".

This happens even if I have the opening page up for several minutes. I wait a bunch of seconds and generally get the Today's Posts page, but occasionally I get the same "Wait" comment again.

I've had no problem with the refresh - so far. This latest Firefox has imporved a couple things for me and I like it. Although I have a extension so I just double click the tab and it refreshes the page so I usually use that.

Default Re: 15 second delay or Search

I've gotten that several times after I've logged on recently....maybe the past couple weeks & while it can be irritating, it's not the end of the world. For me, it's been very inconsistent....I've tried to force it back without success....it happens for it's own reasons & not every time it appears has been because of a short time interval between searches or hitting the enter key. I'm no techie nerd, but I've gotten the impression it was a site-generated msg rather than Firefox-generated....but I can't explain why.

I get the delay message, too. Usually it's when I click on Today's Posts and nothing changes, so I think I "missed" and click again. I tried watching the thing that says "Search took xx seconds; generated xx minutes ago". But that doesn't work, because sometimes it says the search was generated, say, 24 minutes ago when I KNOW I just clicked on Today's Posts!!

The 15 second delay is a security function to prevent someone from overwhelming a forum server with a flood of scripted searches; a common trick of those who have nothing better to do than wreak havoc online. Some forums have it set as high as 60 seconds...

bajalou-

maybe try deleting the bookmark, go to the login page and re-bookmark it.

Maybe the page you have bookmarked is glitchy?

I've never had it happen when moving between different pages. Only if I'm already on the Today's Posts index page and click on Today's Posts one or more times to "refresh" it. And yes, now I just tried it several times in a row and didn't get the delay. I'm also using Firefox, BTW, but doubt that has anything to do with it.
