Default Hola from Nevada

My wife and I are former expats, having lived in Uruguay for three years. For health reasons we returned to the US in 2011 and now that those issues are almost resolved, we are looking at Baja Norte as our next adventure...and possibly our last as we are getting tired of moving. We hope to personally explore Rosarito and Ensenada within the next few months. We look forward to reading through the forum and have a few questions (residency issues) we will post if we don't find answers in the threads. Thanks for an informative discussion board!

Welcome! I am new here as well! Seems we are interested in the same area. I know we will learn alot from researching through this site. I believe we will be a good support and/or support system to eachother as far as what we learn as we go!

Welcome to the forum. I spent many years in Argentina and made several trips to Uruguay. I would take the Buquebus from Puerto Madero and head over to Montevideo for the weekend.

Did you learn to speak Castellano?

Interesting place(s), Argentina and Uruguay, and Castellano was definitely part of the mix. We lived in Montevideo (Pocitos) for a year and then in the Piriapolis/Punta del Este area the other two years. We might have stayed longer but the cost of living in Uruguay is extremely high. And while we should be more proficient, our Spanish is good enough to get around. And, yes, we picked up a lot of Castellano words, sounds and phrases that may be slightly confusing in Baja.

We currently live in Henderson, NV and are from Carlsbad, CA. On returning from South America it didn't take much thought to realize that we could not afford SoCal. That is what makes Rosarito/Ensenada so appealing...similar to North County San Diego...and much less expensive.

It's a buyers market so enjoy your shopping trip! Plenty of members and resources here if you need any help.
