Jan. 29, 2013 Two talks scheduled Thursday in San Diego will focus on the border with Mexico. "Building a Cross Border Metropolis: Forging a New Vision for the San Diego Tijuana Region," is the title of a breakfast panel organized by the Citizens Coordinate for Century 3. The discussion is moderated by Lawrence Herzog, a professor at San Diego State University School of Public Affairs, with the following scheduled speakers speakers are: Serge Dedina, executive director at the Imperial Beach-based environmental group Wildcoast; David Flores, Community Development & Design Officer, at Casa Familiar in San Ysidro; Carlos Graizbord, former planning director for the city of Tijuana and a adjunct professor at New School of Architecture, and Hector Vanegas, borders program manager for the San Diego Association of Governments. The event takes place at the Holiday Inn on the Bay, 1355 N. Harbor Drive from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. Cost is $35 for non-members, $25 for members. Students pay $18. Roderic Ai Camp, a professor at Claremont McKenna College is scheduled as the guest speaker at a presentation on the University of San Diego campus hosted by Trans-Border Institute. Camp's topic is the course of future events in Mexico and the border region under Mexico's Institutional Revolutionary Party. His talk is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Institute for Peace and Justice, Room C and D. The public is invited, but anyone wishing to attend should RSVP to: vivienfrancis@sandiego.edu |
