Default New Kid In Town

We love Mexico! and we are looking to purchase a lot within a days drive of the border to build on over the years. I found this blog and love it! so much useful information on the journey we are about to start.

My wife and i live in LA. We have traveled all over Mexico throughout the years and think it may be time to start thinking about a little Baja hide away some place south of Ensenada on the pacific side. San Quintin area?

I am hoping to meet some new friends here

Douglas

Welcome to the board!!!

I would suggest that you carefully evaluate your proposed location choices. Take into consideration your current lifestyle and what you want in a place to live, and what you really need (wants and needs are really two different things). What can you do without???

Think of things such as medical services, major shopping and social/cultural events. Do you need to be close to the border and an international/US airport for any reason,

Can you live off-grid????? Can you live with having your water delivered???? Will your house be on leased land or will you hold a Fide???? Can you handle dirt roads to/from your house. Do you want to be isolated or do you want neighbors????.....do you want to be around ex-pats???? Will you feel/be safer in a gated area with 24/7 security???

Plenty of things to consider before you jump into the pot!!!! We looked for about 20 years before we settled on a place just south of Ensenada..which met all of our "wants/needs" requirements.

Oh, and the "Real Baja" starts as soon as you cross the border.

I'll get off of my soapbox now............

Good luck with your adventure!!!

Welcome Douglas. Within a days drive gives you a very broad area to cover. I take it that you prefer to be on the Pacific side?
