OK...I've got some more questions now that we've decided to spend the summer at Mona Lisa rv park starting this month thru ??. First, Where should I go to get the best deal on internet service while there without spending the principal or signing my life away. Remember I'll only be there for maybe 6 months at the most. When we were there summer of 08 we never found a self serve laundry facility. Does one exist, preferably at the south end of town ?Last, does Ensenada get OVER-RUN during Semana Santa like some of the towns on the Mexican mainland ? Thanks for any help !!
Oh yeah, just remember something. We were in Ensenada for a month back in 1987. Took a motorcycle trip. Here's what I remember...We headed east out of town on a paved road towards San Felipe. After a distance we climbed a hill and the asphalt turned to dirt. Deciding against a long dusty trip to San Felipe we turned back when I noticed a narrow, winding, dirt road leaving the asphalt and running south mostly down hill. No trees but HUGE and I mean HUGE boulders on both sides of this dirt road. We continued down grade more or less for a mile or two or maybe it was three (remember this was in 1987) when we came to a camp at a mineral hotsprings. A few shacks and an old motorhome (?). I've tried without success to find this place on Google Earth. Does anyone know just where the heck we were that afternoon ? |

For your short duration you might think about finding the WiFi hotzones such as Starbucks.....and others. Quote:
There arn't many. I don't think there are any close to Mona Lisa. Center of Ensenada is the largest. Reforma and Cortez. [Cortez has two other names as well....5th and Juarez. It changes at reforma] Quote:
Not any more. |

Probably San Carlos Hotsprings. I'm still wondering about your last question. |

There is a clean self-service (mostly) laundromat just down the street from you, near the park in Chapultepec. If you are headed to the Mona Lisa on Morelos. it will be on your right between (I think) the new Calimax and the park. It's in a cluster of small shops along the road.
The place with the boulders is between Ensenada and Ojos Negros on Hwy 3. I believe it is about 20 or so miles from Ensenada and it is called Agua Caliente. There is a sign on Hwy 3 that indicates the road. Just a note, it is the upper area of the hot springs in Canyon San Carlos that you can access from the road to the Baja Country Club, just south of Ensenada. (I think the boulders are closer to Ojos Negros than the hot springs) Regarding internet, drive around the Mona Lisa area and see what other people have. You might try Telnor or Cablemas for a short term use.....might be cheaper to pay for internet and phone for a year then cancel after 6 months. |

Agua Caliente is reached from Hwy 3, San Carlos is reached from Hwy 1/Canyon San Carlos Road (Baja Country Club). It's the same canyon/drainage, Agua Caliente is the upper end, San Carlos is the lower end. I think at one time, you could take the dirt road between them, but believe it is blocked at both ends beyond each hot spring(s) |

Not much. I haven't been out there for twenty years, but I hear the owner made some nice improvments...baths etc. The water's hot. I know that much. It's a dirt road, so I'd wait a while for the mud to dry out. Muy importante.....don't go off the beaten path going out there. Lot's of growers in the area. |
