I plan on moving to Baja next February
I have a home in Ensenada. I would guess its value is $250,000. My wife is a Mexican and she has two homes. One in Hermosillo and one in Caborca. I also have a 401K and retirement income from the company I worked for. I want to wait two more years to draw my social security. My question is what would I be filing as on my immigration for permanante or temporal, Single or married? Do they take into account that my wife is a Mexican and therefore the assets needed are for myself only? Do they take into account that I already own a home and therefore the necessary cash assets are therefore lower? Thanks Amigo Arizona |

![]() ![]() ![]() I agree with CDN_JOHNNY, it's to your benefit that you wife is Mexicano, use that to your advantage & go for Residente Permanente & be done with the INM process once & for all. |

No, under the revised laws implemented November 9, 2013, they are offering Residente Permanente from the starting gate.....if you meet all the requirements. You're actually in a better position than those of us already in the process; much less hassle & overall cost than approaching it one year at a time as those of us midstream in the process had to deal with.

With proof of financial solvency you would be bypassing the Vinculo Familiar to get a Residente Perrmanente visa, You can´t go 2 routes at the same time, one or the other. All Residente Permanente visas have the work permiso. The drawback is with a Residente Permanente you cannot have a US plated car in Mexico. With a Residente Temporal you can have one. In the Frontera States I suspect you might not have a problem but you also might have a problem driving a US plated car if an incident arisies and Insurance companies "could" not allow or if they give you a policy "might" not pay. Also INM might give you a problem if they find out somehow. Hard to say at the moment. If you are driving outside the frontera states and now cannot get a TIP anymore your car will be illegally in Mexico. Then I suspect you might be in big trouble if pulled over for any reason, even getting your car siezed. You would most likely have to get a US car nationalized to be able to drive anywhere without problems. If it is not between 1985 and 2007 you cannot. Alan |

I was told today by a visa specialist in San Diego that because I was married to a Mexican lady that I could apply now for a visa instead of waiting until next year. He also stated that because I was married to a Mexican I could apply in Mexico for the visa and would not have to apply at my nearest embassy or consulate where I reside.
Anyone else know about this? |

Save your money!! INM will give you a printout of everything you need & they'll walk you through anything that's not crystal clear to you. Fill out a few forms, provide copies of proof of marriage & proof of residence (electric or water bill). It's easier & much less complicated than filing your taxes!! Honest!
